What kind of shoes for first walking shoes?

DS has been walking, but I've been procrastinating getting him fitted for his first pair of real shoes. Well, this weekend he stepped on a bee and got stung while walking in only socks, so it's time to get the boy some real shoes!

Where/what kind? Stride Rite? Sneakers? Any pics of the first real walking shoes you bought? I want something more sturdy than Robeez after the bee incident.

ETA: Are the Stride Rite outlet prices better than the regular store prices?

DD's first shoes were Stride Rite sneakers. They recommended the Natural Motion System type. They are very flexible so they can grip/feel the gound but still with a rubber sole so their feet don't get hurt.

I paid $40+ for them in the store because she is a 4W and it's hard to find in the outlets, but def check out the outlets. There is one in the lake success shopping center and one attanger in Deer Park.

DD walks great in them.

The Stride Rite outlet is a lot cheaper! Definitely go there!

But it was winter. For summer I would get a lighter color. The important thing for their first pair of shoes is ankle support.

Stride rite walking shoes. I went to the Tanger outlet store and bought a pair of sneakers and dress shoes.
