What outdoor maintenance things did you buy when moving to your first home?
We are moving from a condo to a house, and we need stuff like the lawn mower, garbage cans, hose, etc. Am I forgetting anything? We have shovels, and won't invest in a snowblower....

You got the basics.
Add a rake (for spring clean up)
Maybe a small hoe if you plan to garden/plant flowers.
Garbage bags for leaves/twigs, etc
We bought 2 garbage cans. One for typical household garbage with a lid and one large brown one we could put twigs/leaves, etc in when we did lawn maintence.
Maybe pick up a few bags of fertilizer to get down on the grass for spring growing. Thus, you'll need a fertilizer spreader. We got an inexpensive one for about $20 at HD.

Maybe an outside broom, especially if you have trees that shed crap on the front steps, driveway, and patio & walkways if you have them.

A rake and a four prong rake. Come in real handy when cleaning up around the yard.

That's OK, DH thinks the way to combat ice to to just throw 4" of salt on it and hope it melts underneath it
We already have a ladder, but I see someone else suggested it - soo a really good extension ladder, possibly some rubbermaids to label and sort tools/supplies in the garage.

Re: What outdoor maintenance things did you buy when moving to your first home?
Something we already had which came in handy was what I can only describe as a gardener's suitcase. It came with different size spades, a foam kneeling pad, hose connectors, hand rakes, etc.
Also, consider if you need padlocks for wherever you're going to put all this stuff. We needed two - one for our shed and the other for our basement.
Everyone else pretty much covered it. The only thing we bought ahead of time was the ladder because we knew we would need it to paint. We moved in in November so we didn't even buy the lawn mower until much later.
Also, a bucket and something to coil your hose in/around.

ALWAYS have salt available from Fall through end of Spring. DH didn't tell me we ran out of salt because he 'forgot' and for the big snowstorm I was walking on ice for 2 days. This weather is so unpredictable these days. First day of Spring we had snow flurries.

We bought: A mower, garbage cans, rakes, shovels, hedge clippers, gardening tools, a chain saw, weed whacker and an axe. But we had a lot of yard work to do.
