what should I do with this old refrigerator? I THINK IT IS A FREEZER

when we moved in, the former owners left and old Coldspot refrigerator in the basement (has no freezer). I looked all over the fridge for some other details like year or ect and cant find anything.

DH is getting ready to call special pick up to discard it, but before i do that, I was wondering if i should call an antique dealer or sell it. Could it be worth anything? i have no idea.. any help ideas?
TIA

Sell it on craigslist or ebay... It's vintage and a lot of collectors would love it....

Re: what should I do with this old refrigerator?

We have the exact same situation going on over here. Infact, we don't knwo what to do with the damn thing because it's so heavy, who would actually buy it? We have a vintage 45 Fridgidaire. It's in almost pristine condition. From what we have seen, they go for about 500 dollars in it's original condition, and about 3K once it's all redone. HTH

oh try to sell - craigs list big time!!! I have a 1950 stove that we are getting with the house and it still works. IF we can't sell we are call a scrap yard (since its made of 100% metal) to pick up and scrap.

Re: what should I do with this old refrigerator?

I would contact a collector or any of the websites that you will find if you google coldspot refrigerators. There are a bunch of sites where people restore them and sel them for a couple of thousand dollars

Re: what should I do with this old refrigerator?

thanks! i remember coming across that website a few months ago when i was thinking of what to do with the fridge. Im thinking that the fridge has to at least be from the 50s since the house was built in 53 or 54. everyone coldspot i saw online had a freezer and mine does not.

im thinking i should call an antique dealer, maybe they can at least give me some more info

Re: what should I do with this old refrigerator?

Contact the person that runs that website. It may be older if it doesnt have a freezer. I would contact them first and then an antiques dealer.

I couldnt find a year, so at first I googled images to find one close enough. Apparently my dishwasher was manufactured between 76-79

thanks. yeah i came across that picture as well and that site. the inside looks the same as mine but the outside is different, the handle and the placement of the brand name.
i think i may just have to put it on craigslist and see if someone will pay like 100 bucks for it lol

Re: what should I do with this old refrigerator? I THINK IT IS A FREEZER

Well, I found a good website called classicrefrigerator.com. they restore them and sell them for 3500 bucks a pop! So I think they buy them, I'm going to contact them because I was way off on mine, it's a 1939 GE, and in great condition. I just want someone to buy the damn thing!
