What temp do you cook your turkey at?
My mother is telling me 325 degrees - but I always cook my chickens at 375 or 400. It takes less time and I think they come out juicier that way (less time for them to dry out in the oven).
So... who is right?

Re: What temp do you cook your turkey at?
I set the tem at 325. I just worry that at the higher temps you stated would brown the turkey on the outside but the inside will not be cooked thoroughly so you would end up with a nice looking crispy skinned turkey but underdone on the inside.

Re: What temp do you cook your turkey at?
I cook it at 350. I think 325 is too slow of a cooking temp.
Never had a problem and I am a 15 year turkey maker.

Re: What temp do you cook your turkey at?
I like a slower roast so I go at 325.. but I have done it higher with no problem.

Re: What temp do you cook your turkey at?
I think the opposite I think the lower the temp the slower the roast the juices stay in, the higher the temp it dries out...I would meet in the middle and do 350

Re: What temp do you cook your turkey at?
This is the best way:
Start at 425 (I would do 400 if it was a small chicken) for about 20 - 30 mins...then turn it down to 375 (350 for the small chicken).
This makes the skin super brown and crisp and amazing.
It essentially sears the skin, so the juices stay in.
Key to a juicy bird is to let it rest for at least 15 mins before cutting - cover in foil to lock in heat.
Good Luck on Turkey Day!!!

Re: What temp do you cook your turkey at?
I know it's a day late, but....
I pre-heat the oven to 500, cook the turkey for about 30 minutes at that temp. Then lower to 425.
An 18lb turkey cooks in 3 hours and literally falls off the bone and is nice and moist. ( I just stuff the bird with apples and onions, helps to not dry it out).
Delish... I hardly had any leftover turkey
