What this "Nub" theory?

I don't think I am familiar with it? I find out next week if we're having a boy or girl, but I'd love a guess now. I have a 12 week ultrasound pic in my album - can anyone guess? I don't think I see a nub, though. I am not sure what to look for. I'll try to post here...

Re: What this "Nub" theory?

You can google it, it's actually pretty cool and interesting but I wish I never read about it with my first rpegnancy! I was team Chat Icon , read about the nub theory, looked at my 12 week sono pic and just KNEW it was a girl. We stayed team Chat Icon until the delivery room, but I kinda feel like I cheated myself by already "knowing".(althou I am no sono tech! Chat Icon )

The pic you posted doesn't show the nub though.

Re: What this "Nub" theory?

The picture you posted is not a full profile shot and there's no nub in the picture.

That said, the theory is based on the angle of the nub, or as people say "the angle of the dangle."

Before 14 weeks, the genitalia looks identical in boys and girls. However, the theory is that the genitalia ("nub" - which in boys becomes the penis and in girls recedes to become the clitoris) has a different angle for boys vs. girls.

This only works with a full PROFILE shot only at 12 weeks.

Boys' nubs will be angle up 30 degrees or more (sometimes even straight up).

Girls' nubs will be angled less than 30 degrees, many times horizontal or close to it.

The angle is all relative to the baby's spine in the sono shot.

Hope that helps! It was true for me with both pregnancies.
