What to do
Ok so a close relation gave me a large personalized gift but it is not my style, I have zero use for it, and no where to put it. What do I do? It is a huge metal bucket with my name.

It has such a country look, and that is not my style. I already have ice buckets that I use and love. I literally hate it. I think it is ugly and don't want to use it. So what do I do with it?

My first thought was to put a plant in it and put in backyard...the drinks idea is good too.

Do you have a common name? Maybe donate to a fundraiser type thing? My kids school has a granny’s attic where they sell new or slightly used items...or just throw it out.

Put it in the basement and take it out and use it when that person is going to come over. I like the idea other had. Fill with Ice and stick beers in it outside or put a plant in it.

Use it as a storage bin in the back of a closet or in the basement so it's still functional but not actually out in view where you have to see it but also isn't taking up wasted space sitting empty and then pull it out when they come over? Or get rid of it?

What to do
Use it for storage. I find it hard to believe it's so offensively ugly that it can't be crammed in a garage or basement and used as a storage bin.

I would just stick it in my basement or garage. For the garage, I'd use it to store shoes, umbrellas or winter supplies (hat, gloves, etc).

What to do
I would think there must be something you could use a bucket for - maybe for storing recyclable cans or newspapers? Storing any kind of items in your garage or basement? Using as a planter?

I've tried to tell them let's stop giving each other gifts for years now. I still give them their gift cards and toys their child loves. They always come back to tell me the toy is their kids favorite and post photos where the toy is used even to other people. I am mindful of space issues, and never give loud toys. They always give stuff that is not my style or useless. It just serves to remind me that they don't take the time to know me. It is completely their style.

And what is their response when you tell them you would like to stop exchanging? Honestly if it's that much of a bother then just stop giving them a gift even if they refuse to listen, eventually they'll get the point and stop gifting you.

That kind of stuff is so popular right now - especially on those Farmhouse groups. I would just donate it. Hell I love that stuff - I'll take it off your hands. Flip it around so your name doesn't show or slap some ribbon on it - whatever. LOL
Why keep something that will upset you. Get it out of the house. If they question it, just tell them I appreciate the gift but I had no use for it. End of story. You're going to continue to get gifts like that if they see you use it - even if it is just for when they come over.

oh yes, I am sure it is popular. She loves Joanna Gains and this is completely her style. It just is not mine. My kids reminded me I need to clean and store some household items so I will use it for that and keep it under a sink in a guest bathroom.
