What to do in NYC/Queens/LI
I have some friends coming from out of state who want to do "touristy" things. I'd rather not go to NYC everyday.
So I need ideas for 4 adults, 3 kids, age 3, 5, & 8
I was thinking Bronx Zoo LICM (if it rains) Museum of natural history (they specifically asked) Broadway show (another request)
But I need some more ideas, and if you can specifics (like if beach-which one). Last time I brought them to Jones and it was NASTY.
TIA

If you don't want to go to the city you can take them to the World's Fair (I call it that...don't know the real name) by Shea and then to the Lemon Ice King of Corona. Both are touristy and the Lemon Ice King is the best!
ets: While you are at the Ice King, if they are music fans, you can show them the school Simon & Garfunkel sang about. "Me and Julio down by the schoolyard".
Yes, I only know this because my DH is in the music biz. Any landmark music related, I can tell you the story about.

There is also the aquarium out in Riverhead. Atlantis Marine World
Then you could either go to the outlets, the wineries, farm stands...
ETA: Forgot about the kids for the wineries part, but I love the wineries!!

I like long beach.
Today we are going to the coney island aqaurium - so I can let you know how it is.
Queens hall of science is so much fun for kids.
Hecksher park is a nice park as well as the village of huntington.
Greenport and surrounding area is a great place to visit.

Robert Moses has a great playground and boardwalk at Field 5. Ocean Parkway is a nice drive too.

Re: What to do in NYC/Queens/LI
thanks everyone. These are some great ideas. We were thinking about going to fire island for the day, but I have never been so I have no idea what we would do there.
