What to do when babysitting plans fall through..
My DH surprised me about 2 months ago by ordering tickets to see a favorite band that will be playing at the IMAC theater in Huntington this Saturday.
We haven't seen them in over 2 years, not since just after Emily was born.
And he got front row, center tickets.
So on Easter I asked my mom to babysit and she said no problem.
I haven't reminded her in a while though, so I called her tonight (we talk a few times a week, I just always forget) and it turns out that she is going to a dinner function at church because she forgot about it.
I am just so disappointed. We don't have any other babysitters. My one sister is away at college and the other one lives all the way out in Rocky Point and has her own daughter also, so it really wouldn't work.
I might have to just have DH go with one of his friends.
Seriously, where do people find babysitters? I used to babysit for SOOO many families when I was in HS and I was so responsible, but I just don't know where to find a girl who does that anymore.

Do you have a college around you? You could put a flyer up at the education department? A few of my friends did that in college

Would your sister be willing to come in from Rocky Point with her DD and maybe have a "sleepover?".
Also, it's short notice, but, maybe post on Craigslist? I know you'd probably want to interview first, but, can't think of anything else..I wish I could help you out.

I don't remember if she's in daycare or not but if she is how about asking someone from there? Or nursery school?

She goes to a babysitter's house but this woman has her own kids and so she wouldn't be able to come here---plus I don't really want to leave her there until after midnight.

I was going to suggest that. We asked one of the girl who loves DS and watches him until DH picks him up at night. They said they don't really "advertise" but they do babysit on the side.
