What to serve with Potato soup?
I am grocery shopping for the week after work today and am totally craving potato soup, so I want to make that this week for dinner one night. Only problem is that DH does not consider just soup (or soup and bread, or soup and a sandwich) dinner, and said soup is only good enough if it is a “side dish to some other kind of meat or pasta.” Sort of ridiculous. Also, he doesn’t eat salad. Any suggestions for an entrée I could make that would go along with the potato soup and please my DH? He has pretty simple tastes…I suppose I could just make some chicken and vegetables but figured it couldn’t hurt to ask if anyone had ideas!

Make it a baked potato soup and serve it with a giant salad and a steak! Or - if you don't mind the carb overload - make a panini and a salad with the soup soup.

I agree with the Panini suggestion or how about some type of grilled cheese maybe swiss cheese with a slice or two of ham or turkey?

All great ideas but unfortunately DH does not consider sandwiches of any kind to be dinner, even with soup. And he doesn't eat salads. He just told me I could make a piece of chicken with the soup and that would be sufficient. He is ridiculous!

Sounds like my ex...
I like the steak idea.
I was also thinking of telling ex that it was a "stoup" (Rachael Ray) and see if that flew.
Maybe a chicken sausage?

Haha I served him chicken sausage once and he made a face and said please never make this again. He is actually a good cook also, he just has very specific tastes

Wow... I would tell him to make his own protein then. Is there a reason why he can't cook his own steak or chicken to go with it, if he is going to be so picky about it?

I sometimes piece together meals centered around a craving.
So maybe I would take your soup and serve it with:
shrimp cocktail
cajun grilled shrimp
stuffed pork chop
bacon wrapped scallops
just some ideas...
love potato soup!
make sure you have crusty bread and wine!
