AS for the blankets and the bibs, i totally agree, whether they're on your registry or not people are going to buy them for you. I kept them off my registry for that specific reason and still wound up with more than i would ever use.
The best thing for me was the pack n play and the boppy. Also the snap and go with the infant seat.

Re: What were the most valuable gifts you received at your baby shower?
That I have used so far and really have needed...
- Rainforest Bouncer - Pack and Play for lower level of the house (with changing table) - Sheet Savers - Nasal Aspirator- FROM THE HOSPITAL! - Powdered Formula Dispenser- Makes night time feeding easier for us - Snap and Go stroller
I didn't register for any blankets and still can open up a small store with the number of blankets people have given me! So I would not register for them!

Re: What were the most valuable gifts you received at your baby shower?
My rainforest bouncer was worth a gazillion dollars to me, especially when my DD was a newborn. It was the only way I could shower!

Re: What were the most valuable gifts you received at your baby shower?
Baby Gear - Bouncy Seat - Swing - Infant Car Seat (I got the Chico travel system and love it) - Snap & Go
Bottle Feeding Necessities - Doc Browns starter kit - Formula mixing pitcher - microwave bottle sterlizer - bottle warmer - Formula dispensing cup for on the go feeds.
Nursery - Changing Pad with at least 3 covers - Swaddle Mes - the best invention ever. - Bassinet sheets - 2-3
Newborn size stretchies - I had an 8lb baby, but he really needed NB size for the 1st 3-4 weeks. The 1st two for sure he was only in PJs.
good thread! good luck!

Re: What were the most valuable gifts you received at your baby shower?
By far, the best thing we registered for and got was the Graco Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center. It's pricey, but it's the only place that DD naps comfortably! She loves it!
I also could NOT live without my Snap N Go.

I LOVE this swing, but DD could care less about it and actually prefers the Boppy travel swing.
With that said:
Boppy Travel Swing Swaddle Me Fisher Price Aquairum Crib thingy... Twilight Turtle (She LOVES this!) Snap and Go Mylicom!
ETA I did'nt have a shower, but these items are a lifesaver for me!

Re: What were the most valuable gifts you received at your baby shower?
Bouncy seat. It was the kind that the sides came up a bit so the baby felt like they were being held - which was a godsend because it's really a PITA to hold the baby while you're on the toilet.
Stroller. - I loved it - adjustable seat back, 5 point harness, folded small, rain shield & mosquito netting included in the hood.
It wasn't a registry item but it was a godsend for a gassy baby or if you plan on doing long car rides - the Podee. Tip: You have to suck up the liquid to the tip of the straw before giving it to the baby.

Re: What were the most valuable gifts you received at your baby shower?
papasan swing boon highchair carters bibs (the big terry ones with the snap in the back) bornfree glass bottles angelcare motion monitor!!!!!! mittens and hats sleepsacks (get one size larger than you need... they outgrow them so quickly, and they're $$!) bumbleride indie chico keyfit 30 (he slept WONDERFULLY in the car!) Maxicosi Priori (also a wonderful sleep!) little dishwasher basket for bottle parts a simple square wicker basket (to put changing table stuff inside) boppy sheets ameda double electric pump/extra bottles (with purple caps.. the clear caps leak sometimes)/carrying totebag receiving blankets **at BRU, there are these white flannel 'burpcloth/lappads'... they're priceless! We use them under DS's butt on the changing table...
I think that's it! (notice what's missing from the list? toys! He had no interest until really 3+ months old... and even then, he's sort of fickle, and only likes a certain type of toy...)
