What will you use to keep DC warm in the car?

Chat Icon is due in December. Originally, I thought the Bundle Me would be a good idea, but now I've read that it hasn't been tested for safety and that it shouldn't be used b/c it goes under the baby and can interfere with safety restraints in car seats. The Budle Me is supposedly good for strollers, but it would probably be a PITA to put it on and take it off every time you get into and out of the car. There are similar car seat safety concerns with using a heavy jacket.

What will you be using to keep DC warm in the car seat in the winter? Just a blanket? Is there any particular item you're registering for? TIA.

I have never heard of that before...i know so many people that have used the bundle me in the past with no problems...including my sister and 2 of my cousins. I still plan on using it as i am due in Dec too.

DD was born in December and we used the Bundle Me. I felt it was better with that than a jacket because the restraints were more fitted to her body, not stretched out over a heavy jacket or bunting. KWIM?

(the pic is too cute not to share, she's about 3 months old here)

If you don't feel comfortable with that, then I'd try to find a lightweight bunting with the holes for the restraints. I wouldn't worry too much about DC being too cold because you'll have heat on in the car and the time between the car and shelter is short.

I also registered for the Bundle me. My friend who had a winter-baby said this is the main thing she recommends. She also said it's good because you can dress the baby lightly underneath and not have to be bothered with snowsuits and such, and that they can stay in the Bundle me/car seat if you are hanging out somewhere it's a tad chilly for them.

I basically googled Bundle Me and safety. I came across a bunch of websites that said it was unsafe and and shouldn't be used in the car. Maybe I'm just being paranoid though.

You aren't supposed to use something this thick in the car seat. It keep the straps from being tight enough on DC and they can be ejected.

We used a bundle me. Wonderful invention!

Re: What will you use to keep DC warm in the car?

I have heard that but I would rather have the bundle me in the seat and the straps tight around her body than have bulky sweater or bunting on her then the straps around her.

I used one w/ Hayley and LOVED it!!! Just a hat and the bundle me kept her nice and toasty!!!

If you use the bundle me and that bunting the baby will be way to hot. I would say 1 or the other, definetly not both.

Re: What will you use to keep DC warm in the car?

DS was born in April and he was 6lbs. The nurses told me that the bundle me moved the straps in the carseat and he longer fit properly. Now, he is big enough to use it, but it's too warm. I hope to use it in the fall. They make a thing that goes around the whole outer frame of the seat and now through the safety straps, that probably would have been better for me.
