What words does your 11-12 mo. old say, if any?
DS started saying "ma ma" and "ba ba", not really "da da" (only occasionally). Sometimes he will try to repeat me but I feel like he is not consistent with saying his words. Sometimes he says them everyday, others he doesnt. He mostly is babbling and doing baby talk which I guess is a good sign. I'm just not sure his vocab is where it should be consistancy wise.

all Ashley says is Mama, Dada and baba... but honestly I dont think she even knows what "baba" means... I think its just more of a sound that she makes...

Emma says Mama and what sounds like hey. That's about it though! Although..when I say "where's Nicholas!", she mumbles something that sounds the same each time

Cailen says the following words functionally - meaning, they apply appropriately to the situation -
Daw Ee for doggy
Ducky (for the duckies in his bath) - sometimes it comes out Du EE
Ba for Bath
"Duh" or "Aw duh" for done/all done - only when he is eating
Daddy
Ma
Deh Deh (for big sister Devin)
Hi and Hi Dere (hi there - not sure where he got that from! )
Bye
One time he said Bottle, and one time he said Water

Ok...now I feel better. They say it is more important for them to understand what you are saying at this point and he definetely understands me. I just wanted to make sure he wasn't behind.

at this age, they communicate more than speak - Cailen can communicate exactly what he wants with a series of "OO OOS" and "Uhhh Uhhs" and reaching his hand out to what he wants or where he wants to go... He also brings over snack cups for me to open (he looks thru his diaper bag )
The thing is - he understands his environment, knows what to expect from it, and knows how to communicate to me what he wants to happen in it based on past history - those are all the makings of language!

Well, its partly from having a loud mouth for a mommy, and, just from being in my profession, I repeat a lot and communicate to him without even realizing it....

Re: What words does your 11-12 mo. old say, if any?
At a year Mallory had a whole bunch of words... Addison now only has Mama, Dada, OW (when she hurts herself) and HAAOOOHH! for Hello.. She understands ALOT of what we tell her though.. like if we tell her get the ball, she'll get it.. or if we tell her baby love-love.. she'll rock her baby doll... I think that as long as there is comprehension then it's fine.
