What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
Lets say you were in the market to look for a house. What would be your thoughts on a house that had two washer and dryers.
Let's say a W/D in the basement, and a W/D on the second floor.
Would you like? dislike? not care?

i have seen that, the older set was in the basement they just didn't want to remove them so left it. I would suggest making that a requirement if you do not want them when going into contract.
but i guess if both were nice/new they might have a large family/extended family that was living there.

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
Well here is the scenario.
We are putting up a second story dormer and one of the big debates we are having in the household is whether or not to put a laundry room on the second floor. We have concerns that the W/D on the second floor will shake the house and they will never be used due to paranoia.
There is a brand new W/D in the basement currently that we just bought.
What I am thinking is building the second floor with the laundry room and laundry room hookups upstairs, but not put any W/D in there right now.
Maybe down the road I might put another W/D up there when the paranoia subsides (the money to purchase the additional pair is not an issue).
I could simply move the existing W/D up there when I am ready, but I was curious what people thought about a house having two W/D units (both sets being brand new). I would think if you have to do a ton of laundry, being able to run two loads at a time would seriously cut down on the time it takes to do laundry.

We have ours on the second floor and never had an issue. It shakes a bit when spinning but no issues in 7 years.
Having the w/d in the basement does me no good.
We threw away the washer and brought the dryer up to the second floor.

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
For my needs 2 sets would be totally unnecessary - if both were brand new, I wouldn't have an issue - if the basement ones were old and they were too lazy to remove them, I'd want them gone before I moved in and had to do it -

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
I'm thinking that it would be a good idea to have a w/d upstairs on the 2nd floor, but DW is fine with just the ones in the basement. I might be able to convince her to have a small stackable set upstairs, and the big ones in the basement. I think having two sets would be a good thing.

Like. Do you need to add another septic if you're not hooked up to a sewer system?
We've discussed it, but they would both me on the same level. Our neighbor did this, but they also added a 2nd septic. I don't know if the 2nd septic system was for the extra washer & dryer or if it was for other purposes.

I would think they had an apt in the basement. I would feel two were not needed.

I thinks its a great idea to have the option/hook ups on both floors. If you're selling down the road, your realtor could explain the situation and the way you describe it here sounds totally reasonable to me. As a recent buyer, I would have loved to have the option of either.

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
I would think it's the best thing EVER!! Almost as good as a kitchen with two dishwashers.
If the bedrooms are upstairs it makes more sense to have the laundry room there too. It would be great instead of lugging stuff up and down all the time.
I used to babysit for a lady that had 2 washers and driers upsatirs. The kids slept on that floor on the main level where her room was she had another 2 washers and driers. A family of 5 had 4 washing machines. She loved it she could do colored clothes in one and towels in the other well not her the cleaning lady could but you get the dreft
My parents have a stackable washer and drier upstairs in their house. They haven't had any problems with it at all.

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
I don't think I would have a preference either way if there were 2 washers and dryers. However, I would definitely like if a house had a W/D on the second floor.

I don't see why you would. There's no difference between running one washer 4 times a week, or two washers 2 times a week each. More washers doesn't mean you wash twice as much.

I stand corrected, our neighbor added a 2nd dry well.

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
the house we are buying comes with 2 washers and dryers. they have 1 set in the basement and a stackable in the garage.
we want to take the stackable and put it on the second floor in a utility closet, so we can throw small loads of towels and such in without having to go to the basement. and this closet is right outside of the bathroom so electric and water are not an issue.
I say go for it!! I don't think it will shake the house. i would'nt put it on a wall with a bedroom because someone one day may have sleep kids in there and then can't do laundry if they didn't have the other set.

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
Heaven
The thought of being able to do 2 loads of laundry at once even if it is on a different floor would make me happy. I feel like I spend some much time doing it.
I really think it is a great idea.
I wanted to add that when my parents added a 2nd floor to there ranch, they moved the W/D upstairs. You don't hear it and it doesn't shake. It's also front loading (not sure if this makes a difference or not, but thought I would mention it).

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
why wouldnt you like it? however, i would like them on the same floor and id rather them in the basement.
My parents have 2 washers and 2 dryers... in the basement. it is the greatest thing! when i lived home you could run a load of colors and lights at the same time. If you are a large family it cuts your time on laundry dramatically!
also. in my parents old house (a mother daughter high ranch) there was a set of WD on te 1st floor as well as in te basement. It did not shake anything. let your paranoia go.. that is just sillyness!

I'd think whoever lived there had a big family like mine. I would love to have 2 w/d.

Re: What would be your initial thoughts on a house that had TWO washer and dryers ???
i wish my w/d were on the bedroom level... it would make so much sense then lugging the baskets to the basement... i think i spend more time now going down and getting clean clothes because ic an carry the baskets up myself
growing up my parents had the w/d on the 4th floor and there was alittle shaking when it spun out but that is it...

Ha! this was always an arguement when I lived with my parents so I always had to bring the sheets/blankets/saddle pads to the laundromat!
