what would you do? job and pregnancy related.
I have been at my job with the nyc for 5 years so i am tenured, same sachool for all 5 years and i had one baby while working there. We are planning on ttc for baby #2 this summer. Would you put in for a transfer witin the city schools knowing there is a chance you may be out on maternity sometime during your first year at the new school?

Why do you want to transfer? Are you not happy where you are now?

If it were me, i wouldn't change until after i had #2 if i wasn't happy.
I am not a teacher, but so many rules apply with FMLA, and STD, vacation time and maternity leave, i wouldn't want to leave a new job for pregnancy.
I just started a new job after my maternity leave and after my temp lay off when i found out i was pg, i decided not to go back cause of my pregnancy, my job wouldn't be covered and i would be working for nothing with no job security after i had the baby.
But that's just me.
It's tough decision, you never know though how that TTC rollercoaster is going to be
ETA: It was by far THE HARDEST most UPSETTING decision i ever had to make.

why would you transfer? Does that affect your tenure?

I would try to find out if the transfer would have any impact on your time off after you have the baby, or if you would keep your assignment after coming back from maternity leave. If nothing would change and you wouldn't lose anything, then I would put in for the transfer.
