What would you do? sitter/going out/schedule situation
My friend of over 10 years from college, who I rarely see (haven't seen him since my wedding) is starring in an off-off-off broadway play that runs one night only - tonight.
We had everything worked out. My brother was going to babysit, Jake would have already been out for the night by the time we left. Turns out my brother can't do it now - last minute.
Jake's schedule is also more than a little screwy this week because he started daycare. He woke up at 11am this morning!!
I've pretty much already made my decision but I'm curious to see what others would do.
So here are the options:
1. We could go - IF we were able to find a sitter (probably my Dad's wife who used to watch him before daycare - she's the only one I would probably trust in this situation) we could just not nap him all day, then put him to bed extra early (6-6:30pm) and hopefully he would sleep straight through. But he might have a hard time sleeping through the night tonight b/c his schedule is all out of wack. Do we take that chance?
2. I could go, with a friend, not w/DH. DH would stay with Jake. DH claims to be ok with that but I don't believe him. But I could go anyway and he'd get over it.
3. Forget the whole thing. Tell my friend I'm sorry, I couldn't make it to his acting debut, the end.
PS - I've had to turn down alot of his functions (engagement party, birthday celebrations, etc) in the past two years. He told me about this months ago and I told him I wouldn't miss it.
So what would YOU do?

I would try for #1. In reality, she seems to be the only one you would be comfortable with.

I would have your dad's wife watch him. I'm sure she can handle it.

If you trust this one, and even if Jake wakes up- whats the big deal? Its not a work night for you- so its not like you and Jake will have to get up and get out early in the morning...

#1 If you trust her to watch him I'm sure she'll be OK if he wakes up or isn't asleep when you leave.

I am different, but would probably go with #2.
But I very rarely leave her with anybody but dh.
