What would you do? work related
i work in an office with only 3 women. one of them i thought i was close with. found out that she always talks behind my back and tell's everyone that i do nothing all day, which is totally not true, i have the biggest workload in the office. the person who told me said not to say anything to her, so i can't. would you still be close with her? i think i might start to slowly not telling her much or doing things with her, i am very hurt.

I would definitely back away from her. Why open yourself up to her back-stabbing.
Sorry you have to deal with this... sometimes, people just plain suck!

Just make sure you are not "friendly'" with her anymore, be polite but cold.
The thing to remember in a corp environment is that ANYONE and EVERYONE can stab you in the back at any given moment if it will benefit them!

I would totally back away from her!!!! she is probably talking about you bc she is jealous of the work that you do and your case load... so to make herself look better she talks about you. that’s why friends at work are merely just acquaintances bc you never really know if you can trust them....

How do you know it's true? I mean, can you trust what this other person told you about your "friend"? I think the only way to find out is to approach her, but without implicating the other girl (e.g., you can say, "I've heard from certain people that . . . "). If that approach is too forward for you, then try to emphasize how much work you do!

I totally agree with this! This person who gave you the information may have a motive of her own to put a wedge between you and "friend".

I would back away. be polite, you don'thave to discuss anything personal, keep everything work related and at arms length.

I agree. Its unfortunate but this is the way I have been forced to act at work. People I thought were my friends, were in fact, not. They dont know that I know about their actions, but I learned to keep my distance.
