what would you ladies do... not sleeping in crib?

Okay here's the situation:

my DS no longer wants to sleep in his crib. He's almost 5 weeks old. I can rock him to sleep and he'll be completely out, but once you lay him down in the crib... his eyes open and he starts crying. We haven't been able to have him sleep in his crib in a few days. Lately we've been putting him in his rocker (vibrating chair) to sleep at night.

How can we change this? When he was in his crib, he was sleeping 3-4 hour stretches and since he's been in his rocker at night, he sleeps 1 1/2-2 hour stretches. Chat Icon

Is there any way to fix this? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: i should also add that DS has acid reflux.

Do you lay him in a positioner in crib?

sounds like her needs to be elevated... try a sleep positioner and elevating the crib matress. good luck

DS was the same way, I had to rock him to sleep, wait about 10 minutes and then slowly try to put him down. A few things helped for us, swaddling, the sound machine and positioning him on his side. Sounds like your DS might like elevation as well, so like other posters said a sleep positioner might help.

Just keep trying!

The sleep positoner works wonders for us!! Keeps DS elevated a bit, in place & the swaddling is KEY for us!

My DS isn't a fan of the swaddling anymore and doesn't seem to care for the sound machine we have either. Chat Icon

I used this one at first. its got an elevation and sides that snuggle the baby.. but once they roll its no longer good.

then i used this one under the mattress to keep dd elevated.

Ali, I've got a sleep positioner we "attempted" to use with Bella, you're MORE than happy to try it out. Do you want me to bring it over after she naps?

Re: what would you ladies do... not sleeping in crib?

Just wanted to say thanks ladies!

This afternoon i changed DS, gave him a bottle, swaddled him and put him down in his crib where he slept for 2 1/2 hours.

Then he got up, ate some more and is swaddled laying down in the pack n play.

Hopefully he keeps this up! Tonight will be the true test. But between the swaddling and the positioner Chelle brought over... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon it all works! Chat Icon

this is the one i use for DS and it's all he'll use to sleep in the crib. but he is starting to slide and wiggle down it now that he's bigger so we'll probably have to stop using it soon
