What's an appropriate Bat Mitzvah gift?
We plan on giving cash to DH's niece for her Bat Mitzvah, but can anyone suggest a keepsake-type gift?

Thanks! We were thinking of a necklace from Tiffany, but I don't know if money is the best idea... Would any of these be ok? It would be her first "blue box".

I'm sure she would love the necklaces. I gave my cousin gift certificates to the Limited Too. She also got a tiffany's necklace and coach bag. She's growing up so fast

Would she appreciate that? I mean, do most 12 year olds appreciate it? BTW, where would I find that on LI? I know of a few stores that I visited in Manhattan when I lived there and was getting married (my experience there is a whole other post).

try yussels in merrick.
for a bm gift, i ususally either give a mezzuzzah w/ a scroll or if i write a check or give a gc, i do it in multiples of $18.
i think a mezzuzzah is a great gift for a girl or boy who is becoming a bar or bat mitzvah. the ceremony signifies them becoming an adult in the eyes of the jewish community and having a mezzuzzah is part of that resposibility.
there are beautiful mezzuzzot that are like works of art. u can definately find something pretty that would suit the taste of the bat mitzvah candidate.

Thanks! We planned on giving her $108 cash plus a gift. I'll speak with DH about a Mezzuzzah.

I got that tiffany heart for my bat mitzvah, as well as a star bangle bracelet, which I still wear! I really like the star...very appropriate.
