What's everyone's timeframe for preparing for baby?

With DD#1 we moved into my mom's house shortly after she was born so there was never preparing a nursery beforehand. Everything kind of got left in boxes until we moved so aside from setting up a bassinett and washing some clothes we didn't do much preparation. Now that I have an empty room to get ready just want to know what I should be doing when. We have new carpeting in the room but still need to paint, buy furniture, decorate etc... Since this is DD#2 no shower so I don't need to wait for that.

Well I was JUST thinking about how at 30 weeks I had seriously better get move on with the nursery. I have my crib bedding, I've picked curtains and I'm almost sure on the wall color, but I just have to DO it. I don't know what I'm waiting for. I'd like to have everything finished by 34-35 weeks so i can relax a little!

Re: What's everyone's timeframe for preparing for baby?

While I picked things out after week 22, I purchased a lot of it between weeks 29-34. I started setting things up between weeks 36-38. I am having a repeat c/s on Wednesday and we set up the bassinet and repositioned the crib today. The bedding will be washed while I am in the hospital. DS old clothing was washed last week. I washed the coming home outfit yesterday. DDs clothing was purchased at week 34. It will be washed while I am in the hospital.

We picked out our furniture 2 weeks ago and it's due in by 11/21 (just under 4 weeks before my due date).

DH is going to paint next month. I started looking at paint colors since he usually doesn't give me much notice as to when he's going to paint.

I'm hoping to have everything set up Thanksgiving weekend (which gives me 3 weeks until my due date).

we moved over the summer and we're just starting the nursery (ordered furniture and it was in stock last week) but we will be picking it up when the room is done. We are making the opening to the closet bigger and then painting/wainscoting and carpet...shoudl be done in 2 weeks

Re: What's everyone's timeframe for preparing for baby?

I'm 37 weeks this week and I just washed and put away all the clothes today.

(Patting myself on the back....) I brought down all the baby gear from the attic and assembled the crib by myself the other day...I washed the bedding and put that on today.

Since I'm due Oct 21st...I gave myself til Oct 1st to get it all done.

But I started having some nesting issues so I went balls out and got it all done this past week and this week.

I'm going to pack my bag this coming week as well Chat Icon

Re: What's everyone's timeframe for preparing for baby?

This is what is starting to stress me out although I haven't complained about it yet... I'm 29 weeks and my dad has to add a thermostat to our bedroom, in the nursery: spackle the walls, paint, put up a new door and closet doors. He also has to put in high hats in our living room. All of this has to be done before we get the floors refinished in the living room and nursery. Chat Icon

If this was up to me, this would have started a month ago. But my dad has been working on his den which is taking longer then he thought, so we are waiting... Chat Icon

Re: What's everyone's timeframe for preparing for baby?

I am 31 weeks and we are getting started.

We are painting DDs new room this weekend, her new furniture just came in. Once we transition her, we will repaint her old room for DS.

Then, I'll wash all DS's clothes and put them away.

After that, I plan to get some of the baby gear out that we'll use in the early months (soft toys, play mat).

Hopefully, we will be all done by Nov (I'm due the end of Nov).

Re: What's everyone's timeframe for preparing for baby?

I am due 10/22 so I wanted to be totally prepared by 10/1 (when I am term at 37 wks).

Wishful thinking!

We have the crib, mattress, crib skirt, and glider. Still need to get sheets and a bumper and put up the mobile.

Also need to find a place to put all of the items we received at the shower.

Need to get pampers and wipes and nursing bras. Need to pack my maternity bag too. Return registry duplicates.

Still have to find a pediatrician and install the car seat.

So needless to say, I am far behind my target. I have been relying on DH a lot, and he has been crazy busy with work. But both us realize we only have 3 weeks to go if this baby sticks to his/her due date, so we have now kicked our preparation into high gear.
