What's going on w my DS's butt??
hiya guys!
i'm a first time mom here so everything's still kinda new to me. DS is 6mths old now and started eating solids since he turned 5mths. his poop consistency has hardened. his butt hole is red. is this due to the different texture of his poop coming out? cuz it's reallly red. i am so embarrassed here! anyway, he's also got tiny red dots all around his pelvis area (right above his lil wee). what's that due to? i bathe him daily. when i change his soiled diaper i do wipe occassionally. (when he poops i wipe every time) i put diaper rash cream on and it's still there. what is it? and what can i do to make it go away??

Well, my DD's butt is red also. I think it has to do with the consistency of the poop. Since she started solids, her poops are harder. I dont have advice as to the red dots above his pelvis though.

My DS had those tiny red bumps too, and our pedi said to use Lotrimin and it went away over night.

what's it due to?? how and why did it appear? is he too heated with the diaper on or something? i'm gonna look into getting the lotrimin. thanks!

ok.. i just googled LOTRIMIN. it's antifungal athlete's foot cream... huh?

I would think the red butt is due to the solids. DD had some real problems pooping when she first went to cereal. It was bad. As for the red dots, are you airing him out at all during the day. I try to leave the diaper off for a few minutes at most diaper changes. Maybe he's not getting enough air down there?

It could be a fungal rash. When Steven had that, the doc gave an anti-fungal cream.
I don't know how old he is, but if he's teething, he could be about to cut a tooth. I would try an OTC anti-fungal cream, and if that doesn't work then bring him to the ped., you may need a Rx.
ETS: I just re-read that he is 6 months. It could be from teething. Try putting som Triple Paste on his hiney hole. And, on the bumpy area try the Lotrimin.

yes, it can be a fungal rash that's why we tried OTC Lotrimin first before going to a Rx.
