Re: What's OK to eat at a sushi place?
it depends on how strict you want to be..
anything cooked is fine of course - so anything tempura, teriyaki, etc.
in terms of rolls, still - anything cooked. so soft shell crab rolls, tempura anything rolls, cooked eel... also, rolls like california rolls are usually made with artificial crabmeat which of course is fine... but crab and lobster are usually cooked in rolls anyway.

Watch if they use tabiko (the little orange eggs)
Just make sure your rolls don't have that.

Re: What's OK to eat at a sushi place?
I don't like raw fish so it never mattered to me. I eat all cooked crab and or shrimp. I did ask my doc about Sushi though, and he said if I trust the place and have not gotten sick before 3-4 pieces of raw fish, or 1-2 rolls was fine, but to stay away from higher mercury fish. I will stress, however, every doc is different and this perticular doc really doesn't care what I eat as long as it stays down.

I don't want to break any "rules" lol I know that anything raw is out, so I was wondering if shrimp rolls are OK. I read online that we should limit the shrimp intake and make sure it's fully cooked...I'm kinda scared to try!

My doc actually said the same thing about fish! He gave me MUCH higher amounts that I can eat than I thought was allowed. As for raw sushi, he said if you've eaten there several times and have NEVER gotten sick, it's a good place with good sushi and once in a while it won't hurt. I'm still too scared :(
