What's on your summer reading list?
I need some ideas. I'm pretty much open to anything, except vampires.

Re: What's on your summer reading list?
I don't have a "Summer" reading list, but I do have a giant list of authors who I want to read their bodies of work. I'm very in to the vampire/supernatural lit, so I'll only share the more chick-lit ones:
Sophie Kinsella- Remember Me?, Undomestic Goddess, Can You Keep a Secret? (Mini Shopaholic- Fall 2010). Read all the rest.
Emily Giffin- Heart of the Matter...read all the rest.
Mary Janice Davidson- she has some non-supernatural books, the "Royal" series, "Gorgeous" series, etc.
Charlaine Harris' other series, which are more mysteries than vampires.
Madeleine Wickham (Sophie Kinsella's nom de plum)
Gemma Townley
Robyn Sisman
Elizabeth Young
Kim Gruenfelder-Smith-Misery Loves Cabernet (read A Total Waste of Makeup already)
Sarah Mason
Melissa Nathan
Fiona Walker
Kate Fenton
Brenda Janowitz
Erin McCarthy (half supernatural, half chick-lit romance)
Lisa Plumley
Jen Lancaster
Nora Roberts- Bride Quartet
Cara Lockwood
S.A.S.S. series (various authors)-Teenybopper chick lit, so maybe just to see if it holds my interest.
Clearly, one day I just went nuts on the Amazon suggestion page LOL. And I omitted a good 10 authors who only have supernatural works. I have a list and a spreadsheet and everything. I guess I'm nuts, or I just fixate easily. Either way, I'm going to be very busy, for a very long time.

Re: What's on your summer reading list?
I LOVED Sophie Kinsella's Can you keep a secret? on that list! Also Twenties Girl!
On my list:
Mockingjay: Hunger Games Book #3- comes out in August, CANNOT WAIT!!!! If you haven't read The Hunger Games read it!!
When in Rome - Gemma Townley. Georgie is convinced life is perfect with her dependable accountant boyfriend, David, until her last boyfriend, the aimless (but devilishly sexy) cad, Mike, reenters it. Mike is now the owner of a swanky BMW and his own record company, and his flirty e-mails and champagne lunches have Georgie's head spinning and David's blood boiling. David's workaholic tendencies have Georgie agreeing to a weekend away with Mike. But the romantic Roman holiday turns sour when Mike is too busy in business meetings and has no time for fun. And then David surprises Georgie in Rome outside the Sistine Chapel. He gives her the Audrey Hepburn treatment, scooting her off to an Italian restaurant on a Vespa. Neither man will tell Georgie exactly why he is in Rome, and each takes numerous mysterious phone calls, meets with glamorous women, and dodges shady gangsters. Once back in London, she finds herself embroiled in suspect mergers and makeshift spy-girl antics.
Dress Rehearsal- Jennifer O'Connell. Can a couple's choice of wedding cake predict the success of their marriage? Lauren Gallagher, owner of the chic cake boutique Lauren's Luscious Licks, is beginning to think so. Couples who argue over butter cream and marzipan seem destined to argue all the way to divorce court. Her faith in the theory is so unshakable that she pitches it to a book agent and convinces her best friend, Paige, to break up with her fiance. What was he thinking, requesting cupcakes for the reception? When her newly engaged ex-boyfriend waltzes into her shop and orders the very cake she's been saving for her own wedding, she wonders if he was really "the one" after all.
A Lion Among Men-Gregory Maguire
Pride and Predjudice- Jane Austin
Nine Rules to Break when Romancing a Rake-Sarah Maclean. I read her young adult book called "The Season" about London Debs in 1815, which was really good and this is the adult version of it. There's a sequel to it coming out in Oct.
An ideal Wife- Gemma Townley. 3rd book in the series
The White Queen-Philippa Gregory. Brother turns on brother to win the ultimate prize, the throne of England, in this dazzling account of the wars of the Plantagenets. They are the claimants and kings who ruled England before the Tudors, and now Philippa Gregory brings them to life through the dramatic and intimate stories of the secret players: the indomitable women, starting with Elizabeth Woodville, the White Queen.
The White Queen tells the story of a woman of extraordinary beauty and ambition who, catching the eye of the newly crowned boy king, marries him in secret and ascends to royalty. While Elizabeth rises to the demands of her exalted position and fights for the success of her family, her two sons become central figures in a mystery that has confounded historians for centuries: the missing princes in the Tower of London whose fate is still unknown. From her uniquely qualified perspective, Philippa Gregory explores this most famous unsolved mystery of English history, informed by impeccable research and framed by her inimitable storytelling skills.
The Red Queen- comes out in August, same story as The White Queen from opposite point of view
I have others, but these are ones I'm looking foward to

Maybe...maybe not I actually heard pretty bad things about Charlaine Harris' non-Sookie books, but I'll probably still read them anyways...they're very low on my list though.

I found like 50 other authors yesterday on Amazon if you're interested...mainly chick-mystery, but doesn't seem to be supernatural (vamps).

I really tried to like her books, but they aren't great.
"Are you There Vodka, It's me Chelsea" I found really boring.
"My Horizontal Life" - sort of creeped me out. She's lucky to be alive with the amount of stangers she slept with.
I really loved Kathy Griffins Memoir, really funny and really interesting!

I read all of them. I highly recommend Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea and My Horizontal Life. They were hysterical. I didn't love her most recent book, Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang. it just wasn't as entertaining as her first two.

Re: What's on your summer reading list?
Books I read recently that I loved were The Help by Kathryn Stockett and the Red Tent by Anita Diamant. I'm currently reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It's a slow start but it got rave reviews and came highly recommended from a friend so I have faith that it'll be a good one.
