I can't reccommend enough the Angel Care movement monitor. You can get it at Babies R Us. It has an alarm that goes under the mattress (it's small enough even for a bassinet/cradle) that goes off if the baby stops breathing. The reviews are great and it has saved lives. With SIDS always in your thoughts, it gives you peace of mind!
Good luck to you all!!
I thought the alarm goes off if there isn't any movement, not if the baby stops breathing. I've heard bad things about this monitor... alarm going off constantly if the baby doesn't move within a certain time period, etc.

We registered for the Fisher Price Dual Private Connection Monitor. It got really good reviews in Baby Bargains. It's funny, Baby Bargains didn't recommend any of the video monitors, but so many people on here love the Summer one. I'm starting to second guess my choice!

Well, yes, movement/breathing. I used it for my DD and I NEVER had an issue unless I forgot to turn it off when I took her out of her crib. Then the alarm went off which kind of made me feel at ease to know that it worked.
