What's the best bottle, from your experience, for an exclusively BF baby?
MY DS is 5 weeks old and he's been exclusively BF from the start. It's going well and I have no complaints.
I am not going back to working anytime soon, but I have a number of things coming up where I will be out and I will need for him to take a bottle. We tried it last weekend and DH said it was a disaster! DS was gagging, choking on it, the flow was too fast, he couldn't latch the nipple right and all the pumped breastmilk just ended up all over him.
I tried the newborn Tommee Tippee. NO luck! I tried First Years Breastflow bottle with the disposable liners (similar to the Avent ones) and same problems.
What bottle do I try next!? I used Dr. Brown's with my other 2 kids, but I wanted to avoid all those pieces again. Maybe I should just use those?
TIA!

We've always used Born Free and love them! Not too many pieces, all dishwasher safe, they reduce gas, and are similar shape to the breast, with the wide neck. It's all we've used with both of our BF boys and we've had no issues. Just make sure you start with Level 1 nipple- not sure if that's why your baby might have been choking when you tried it. HTH!

Thanks! I was using slow flow, level 1 nipples. I guess it will just take practice with him!

Playtex Drop-ins! My DD refused the bottle for over a month...we tried SO many different bottles, and this is the only one that she eventually took.

I started with the Playtex dropins but she didn't really like that then attempted to switch to Breastflow, she HATED that! Tried Dr. Browns and she would tolerate a bottle.

DS loves his Tommee Tippee, but at 5 months (no solids yet) he's still using the 1 nipple. ETA: We didn't even attempt bottle till 8 weeks and it took practice.

My DS was EBF and we had a great experience with Dr. Brown WIDE NECK bottles... they are recommended for BF babies.

My DS is EBF and now that I started pumping I use Medela bottles and Nuk bottles. I found that he also only will use a nuk pacifier so I think it has something to do with the shape. He took to both no problem.

DD is also just about 5 weeks old-EBF. I started pumping this week and we are using Born Free. There have been no issues at all.

I think the Playtex Dropins with the latex (not silicone) nipples are the closest to breast. DS has reflux so we went to Dr Browns but if he hadnt had reflux, we would have stuck with the dropins.

DS took to the Medela bottles as easily as he took to BF....I was always able to go back and forth interchangeably.

Re: What's the best bottle, from your experience, for an exclusively BF baby?
DD would only take the Playtex Drop-Ins (sometimes called "nursers" depending on where you buy them). And ONLY with the brown latex nipples and not the clear silicone ones.
We went through tons of bottles - Dr. Brown's wide-neck, Tommee Tippee, Avent, Medela - and the Playtex Drop-ins were the only ones she would tolerate in the beginning. It took us a month of trial and error to figure it out, and it was a hard month. Good luck.

I use the Playtex Vent-Air, Wide Neck. My son got the bottle pretty early on and he never had any confusion.

i wanted to avoid all the parts too - but in the end Dr. Browns worked the best for us. DD was BF and formula fed for 9m.

Same for us! DS is only 2 weeks old but this is the bottle he will tolerate I tried a tomme tippe bottle and he hated it. I used Dr. Brown bottles with my other son and wanted to avoid using them again too because of parts. They just work so good. Born free wide neck bottles are very similar. I remember DS# 1 taking them as well.

Same here. It was the only bottle he took to right away. We actually never changed the number 1 nipples.
