What's the best compliment someone's given you as a parent?

Today I took the kids to surprise my mom at lunch. Her colleagues that ate with us told me several times how well behaved they were which made me feel great.

What makes you feel good to hear?

People always comment on how happy and social Logan is.

Makes me feel good even though I have very little to do with it.

Everyone tells me how good Cailen is - which I also feel has nothing to do with me!

i go to lunch with both my boys by myslef and people ocme up to me and say how good they are and how they sit and stay in there seats without a peep! I FREAKIN LOVE MY KIDS!!!!!!!!

Friends always say what a natural I am at the mother thing. They remark on how relaxed I am~ which in turn makes for a happy/relaxed baby.

Considering what a HUGE neurotic I am in the rest of my life..... this is a HUGE compliment to me......

We bowl on a league during the week.
We bring Bryan with us.
So many people come up to me or DH and say how good Bryan is and are amazed as to how he's always happy.
Also if we go to dinner, sometimes, people near us will tell us "Wow. He's such a good baby, is he like that at home"?...I love saying "Yes, he is, ummmm except when we are teething, then it's a completley different story".

I was doing Roman's valentines for his class during a meeting break. Everyone was running for a smoke or to get coffee. I was sitting cutting and pasting. Several people commented on what a good Mom I am.

It made me feel great. Such a simple thing, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I get it a lot too. "Oh, your son is so well-behaved. Is he always like that?" I always wonder what they think of my DD

I think the biggest compliments have been about their politeness or how gregarious they are. My kids are definitely larger than life sometimes and I have learned to accept it as a high compliment. Of course it has nothing to do with me since it's their own personalities but a Mother is still proud.

Usually how polite they are and how outgoing they are...

I was terribly shy as a child and I wanted to make sure that my kids didnt suffer like I did.

I have to say my girls are very well mannered and very good when we go out and I always get compliments for it
also my girls dont say "fresh" words
they think stupid,dumb,jerk,hate are bad/curse words
my 11 year doesnt even say them
and they are really smart so when people say how smart and well behaved they are it makes me feel like I had something to do with it

DH and I had DS at a restaurant and a man came up to us to tell us how well behaved he was and how happy he was. It took us totally by surprise and made us really happy.

Yeah - that well behaved comment makes me very happy too. I have had strangers in restaurants tell me that as well as at some of his classes. Makes me feel good....

I try to do alot before and after the twins so noone feels left out. I get told I am a supermom and I do it all..

I am always told how very good and kind souled my older two are, they stick up for everyone and would never ever ever pick on someone-they would rather sit with the person alone-they never jump on the bandwagon with others, this makes me MOST proud.

when we go out to dinner...most of the time the boys are so good, people have commented how good they are and sometimes say, oh you have 2 of them...we would have never known.

I'm always pointing things out to Claire-you know "what's this?", "look at the pretty pictures, what colors do you see?", "look at that pretty tree", etc. I've been told "you're such a good mom" and it melts my heart.

My BIL told me once that his late mother (DH's mother) would have been so proud of me...the way I fell into being a mother. It was so nice of him to say that...she was a great mother...

I also get told all the time what a beautiful, sweet and good baby I have...I also feel like I have very little to do with it. I feel like thats just the way my son is...thats his predisposition.

I frequently hear how well behaved my kids are in public (they should only know that I've scared them into submission )

But, really, the compliment that means the most to me is when my parents tell me what unbelievable kids I have and what a great job I'm doing directing and managing their interests. I know their prejudiced but it still is great to hear.

Anytime someone compliments my babies it makes me warm and tingly... any kind of compliment does it. I feel so proud of both boys - but those little compliments here and there really tickle me.

But as to the parenting bone.. there is one compliment that still makes my heart catch just THINKING about it. It was the summer after my mother had passed away. We took my boys to Sunken Meadow for the first time in the summer and it was hard because we used to picnic with my mother all the time and I was thinking a lot of her. But we put away our maudlin thoughts and just played with the boys and ran around being goofy. When we got tired and started to pack up, an older woman came over to tell me that she was watching us. She said our boys were going to be good men because we respected them and it was clear that we loved them AND liked them. Then she said she was proud of me. I thanked her, flushed from my head to my toes - and bawled my eyes out the minute the kids fell asleep on the way home.

I haven't had much experience yet, but the nurses in the hospital made me smile the other day....

In the hospital where I delivered, you aren't supposed to walk with the babies in the halls in your arms - you can walk with them as they are laying in the layettes....

Anyway, Kristina was all dressed and ready to go home, so I brought her down to the nurses station where 2 of the nurses that I really liked were to show them her little outfit.

They said to me that they wished that even 1/4 of their patients were as hands on with their children in the PP unit as I was.... apparently, I surprised them with K. They said that what surprised them even more was me having had the C/S how much I was up and about with her, and didn't ask the nurses for help at all.

Definitely how well behaved they are. We put a lot of time and effort into teaching them manners and I love it when they are polite and well behaved and others notice.
