Hershey once had a really bad skin reaction from the Hartz I believe.
And we tried everything before using Frontline on the neighborhood cat and none of it seemed to work.

I don't think that any product such as Hartz is hardly as reliable as FRONTLINE. IMO, I think any medication put on a pet should be given out by their vet in case of reactions, to be sure it's a good product that will work, etc.
In this case, you get what you pay for IMO. Unless a vet carries the product, I personally would chalk it up as crap.

If you are speaking of Frontline...the difference beteen purchasing Frontline in a store, online or at a vet is PRICE. The difference between Frontline and Hartz is strength. Many owners opt for Hartz because their pets do not spend much time outside and if so not in grassy areas. Small dogs such as chihuahua's would do fine with Hartz. i Deworming is another story...Hartz product or any product over counter is not effect and should be adminstered by a vet.
Hartz sells an excellent Oatmeal shampoo which does not irritate or dry out skin.
