What's the largest raise you received?
Either % or $ wise, promotions and new jobs excluded.

Re: What's the largest raise you received?
I once had a salary review/parity check which increased my pay by almost $20K which included a 10% promo but that was a very small portion of the $20K.
Then we got a buy out because they weren't going to pay our job type commissions anymore so we got 70% of our comp target (I think it was $15K at the time) to our regular salary.
Yeah, then I got laid off and came back in a different job with sucky pay grades

Usually our raises are under 4%. Same here. Anything larger than that comes with a promotion.

Re: What's the largest raise you received?
In one year, 20% - it was two 10% raises.
I had an interview lined up. My boss gave me a raise not to interview & then followed up 6 months later with another 10%.
My father joked that I must have been slacking the following year as I only received a 5% raise.
Generally raises in my company are 2-4%. Anything more than that is a promotion or a counteroffer.

Re: What's the largest raise you received?
Usually our raises are in the 3-4% ballpark but, I received an 8% one once for doing extra work (they billed it as half a promotion - same level, just a larger increase).

Not including promotions or counteroffers, 5%
5% is the max in my company without changing positions, 3% is average raise.

Re: What's the largest raise you received?
A couple of months ago I got a 20% raise.
I work for the federal gov't so our pay is based on grade/step levels. I received a grade bump which is why it was so much. It won't happen again for a LONG time.
Step raises are more like 3-6% with inflation.

Re: What's the largest raise you received?
I have gotten 2 raises that were not promotions or new jobs
3%
pretty stinky
promotions at my first job (macy's corporate) 18%!!!!! and I got 2 of those in 1 year
but now the only way I have gotten an increase like that is to get a new job- at a new company

as a permalancer for many years, we got raises every year that were based on our day rate. I once asked for (with very big cajones) and received a 20% raise.

I'm about to ask for 20% as well. I was asking so I could gauge if I have a shot or not, based on if anyone has ever received anything as large. Thanks!

Re: What's the largest raise you received?
Over a year ago, my DH got over a 50% raise. (Yes, fifty) He got a job offer elsewhere for a lot more money, his company exceeded the offer, allowed him to transfer groups, and agreed to pay outright for his MBA and books with no strings attached.
My biggest raise ever was just over 15% -- we had a salary adjustment that year, plus my regular raise.
I can't complain much about the raise %ages at my job. Our salary scale for the first 8 years or so is based on seniority, so I know what my salary will be for the next several years (unless there is a salary adjustment upward). Last year, I got 6.25% and next January, I'll get almost 9%. In January 2010, I'll get a about a 13.5% raise. Our bonuses tend to go up every year as well.
ETA - I am very grateful for the raises... but I have MAJOR grad school loans to pay off.

Re: What's the largest raise you received?
My husband doubled his income by switching jobs (sales). My largest was $20k (promotion).
Keep in mind %'s can be more or less depending on how much you make!

I received a surprising 10% raise for reasons I wasn't told from my old manager before she left to manager her new dept last Dec. I was only there for 8 months.

i was just about to post this. when i first started at my job (been here 8 years), a yearly raise would have been 10% but i didn't make much! my yearly raises now are about 4%. when i get a promotion, it will be around 8%. i just got a mid year raise due to adjustments (play catch up in the industry with what new hires at my level are making) and a slightly heavier workload. my raise was almost 8%.
20% sounds like a lot, but it really depends on how you stand in relation to what others at your level and with your experience are making. i would be prepared to justify the raise with your job performance, work load, responsibilities, etc. good luck!
