what is the layout of a craftsman house.I like the outside.
Similar to a colonial. You walk into a center hall with a dr/lr on your left or right. Kitchen is towards the back there is usually a mudroom or laundry room and a bath.

I LOVE Victorians and Colonials.
We looked at many when we were househunting, but DH didn't want to live in "an old creepy house"
We live in an expanded ranch.
I have 3 floors of living space....
Main floor - kitchen/dining room/playroom/den/formal living room/center hall/DD bedroom and bath and then MBR and bath
Full finished basement
huge walk in attic along with two bedrooms and another full bath on the 3rd floor.
Not a "traditional" style ranch at all.

victorians. grand dames. those are my favorites. brick and stone townhouses and row houses.
I also like colonials. and tudors are cute. and of course, 200 year old country farm houses 
but old houses in general. I am a fan of leaded glass, large plank wood floors. original mouldings. well constructed, well insulated, well maintained historical stuff.

not that we really have them on LI but I love craftsman homes for all the rich details...built ins...wood work, stained glass

Brownstones, Tudors, Limestones, Victorians, etc.  becasue of their historical appeal. I am almost always drawn first to the exterior rather than the layout or interiors.
Now, having said that, I greatly dislike the exterior of my own home but love the interior, so go figure!

We have a victorian and love it. I love how it has an attic that you can actually use. I LOVE craftsman style homes. Also, those big colonials you see down south, and big farmhouses.
