Whats your injection routine?

Do you administer your own injects or does someone else? Sitting, standing, laying? Do you always use an alcohol pad before?

Dh does it for me. I ice it for 5 minutes and use an alcohol pad but I'm noticing that those sites are way more irritated than when I dont use it. Also, if it's bleeding, ill put bacitracin on after. Sometimes I need to ice it again after since everything hurts 10x more than the average person. I lay down but I wonder if it would hurt less if I was sitting.

Then I stuff my face with gobs of ice cream (half jk)

I ice for 10 minutes. I am a wuss! I asked my RE he said, "its working" so I will keep going for ten minutes!!!


DH give me my shot. He mixes while I ice. We just learned today how to make the Menopur and Gonal 1 injection so tonight we are trying that. I lay in my bed and pinch while he injects. He uses the alcohol wipe right before injecting.

If it is bleeding a tiny bit, we put gauze on it. I do not put any cream on it. Maybe I should?!!!?!?

Then I ice for 3 minutes after and then flip to warm it up,...a fellow LIFers trick.

I have no idea if it's a good idea to put the bacitracin on, ill ask today

i inject & mix myself (i prefer it this way)

i do it standing up
no ice
wipe with alcohol pad
pinch, inject, release pinch, pull out needle

so far so good

I usually recline back, so not sitting straight up but not laying down either.

I use an alcohol wipe, then inject.... If I bleed, I just wipe it with gauze, I never put anything on it.

I don't use ice for anything other than PIO which is intramuscular.

i am prob the worst at what i shold do...

i do it myself...i can still remember Dr.B's laugh when he said u can have ur husband inject u to which i said..he will faint..he is a fainter..please tell me i can do it myself..he once fainted at great adventure in front of a sword swallower

anyways..i do not ice..i do use a alcohol pad..i stand and just inject..prob why i am covered in bruises..i do it too rough lol...if i blled i wipe it with my fingers and go on my way

dont take my advice lol

I just stood at the kitchen counter. Got my Gonal pen ready, alcohol swab, and inject....that was it! The trigger I had to mix myself, so that was a little more complicated, but again, all done while standing at the kitchen counter!

I mix the Menopur and Bravelle myself and also inject myself. As far as standing up or sitting down I do whichever I am in the mood for! Started on Friday and tomorrow sono and bloodwork (praying they are getting larger, feels like they r w/ slight cramping)

for sub-q shots i would ice for 5 minutes then alcohol then squeeze and inject. i sometimes would wipe with alcohol after if it bled. i do all of my injects standing up.

for IM shots i would ice for 10 minutes then alcohol then DH would do the shot, also standing up. then i would clean up the blood if there was any and use a heating pad for at least a half hour.

I have done all my injections myself except for the PIO in the back. I only ice for PIO and Lovenex the rest I don't bother. I use an alcohol swab, pinch, squeeze, inject then use a napkin to wipe up the blood if there is any. I used a heating pad for PIO after but that was it. I do them all standing up.

DH used to inject me, first with the trigger shot, then one round of injectibles. I notice once the needle is in when he presses the medicine in he also presses the syringe in more leaving me with bruises.

So I started doing them myself, have done 2 so far. I ice and use alcohol, sit on the couch, kind of leaning over so I can see and inject.

I haven't given myself a bruise yet. But I still get scared and am like 1, 2, 3, okay wait and I have to just go for it!

Now that I think of it, I do each med in a different room DH has no part of it. I won't even let him stay in the room with me. Ovidrel is done standing in the bathroom without ice. Gonal is standing in the kitchen with ice sometimes. and lovenox is sitting on the couch- ice, alcohol, press skin down, shoot, more ice, sit for a bit so it doesn't burn.

I do all of them myself except the PIO.

I stand in the bathroom, wipe with an alcohol pad before, if it bleeds then I cover with a tissue and press.

For PIO since it's intramuscular, I ice first, I face the counter and lean on it with my hands and put no weight on the side where DH injects. We ice beforehand about 5 min. After we microwave a wet washcloth for 30 seconds (RE's nurse told me to do it this way) and he rubs the inject site while I lay down. If it still hurts, I use a heating pad.

FH mixes the meds and gives them to me. I'm queezy with needles so I have to lay on our bed with a pillow over my head so I can't see. He's a saint! I honestly don't think I could've done it without his help. Yeah, I know, I'm a true whooossss

DH has never done it for me. I prefer to do it by myselfin the bathroom standing up. I def. use the alcohol wipes...I find it easier to do it myself
If someone was reading this and did not know I was talking about injections...what a convo that seems like
