Wheat-free finger food ideas
Asher is 8 months and I've been giving him Gerber Puffs to help him develop his pincer grasp. It's gone well, but shortly after we started the puffs I noticed a rash on him and he got very gassy, so I want to keep him off wheat for a while just in case he has a sensitivity.
I can't seem to find any other finger foods that worked as well as the puffs. I've tried avocado pieces and steamed squash, but he mushes those around so much that they end up smooshed on the tray and not in his mouth. Any other ideas?

You might want to start a thread on Babycenter Food Allergy board Some of the mommies on there have been dealing with severe food allergies for a long time and are a great resource for me.

Re: Wheat-free finger food ideas
DD has a wheat allergy - and is also allergic to dairy, eggs, barley, peanuts, all tree nuts, and shellfish... So feeding her is a challenge - every day!
She eats a lot of fruit and veggies.... I'm not sure where you live but Wild by Nature and Trader Joes have a lot of choices of wheat/gluten free foods...
I have given my DD wheat free chicken nuggets - mini pretzels (made by Gener X), rice cakes, and vegan waffles (which are wheat free). You can also find wheat free mixes to make cake - your own bread... you just have to look in the stores...

Re: Wheat-free finger food ideas
I checked out the link. I guess I'll try some rice cakes or rice puffs. I'm just so super-nervous about him choking.
Thanks ladies.

The Quaker Puffed Rice will disolve like the puffs. My son does well on the puffed wheat, he gags on a lot of other foods.

DD had a wheat allergy at 8 months.
We gave her Rice Krispies. She didn't have a problem with Cheerios, oddly enough!
Now, at 14 months, test results show that she no longer has an allergy to wheat. We think she outgrew it.
