When can I turn the car seat around?
Gilly is 20 punds and 10.5 months.

Which car seat do you have?
My infant seat held up to 30lbs - 32 inches tall.
We didn't turn her around until 15 1/2 months.
I know it is NOT recommended to turn them to front-facing until they are at least a year old

Also depends on which carseat you have. I have the marathon and Carseat Chris said I could have it rear facing until he is 15mnths or 33lbs.
ETA: I will keep him rear facing for as long as possible since it is the safest.

Legal minimums are 1 year AND 20 lbs, but I don't want to rely on Gov't minimums to determine what is safe for DC.....

We waited til DD was 15.5 months old to switch her, she was just over 20lbs then. DD loves facing forward now and i don't have dirty shoes on the back of my seat.
Safety is Just something i didn't want to cheat with.
I have a marathon.

we have the Marathon and both my boys are over 20 lbs, and we turned them around a week after their 1st Birthday.
They LOVE facing forward and now LOVE being in the car.
Plus I can see them which makes me more comfortable

I completely agree. It is safest to keep them rear-facing as long as possible.

DD is 9.5 months old and is just shy of 21 lbs, and is 28.5 inches long so Im thinking when she is 1 I may put her forward.

Oh I can - they will see me eating and drinking and want some! 
We are getting the convertible car seats installed on Monday and I'm going to keep them facing back probably for another month or two. Since its the safest I'll wait it out as long as possible.
