when did DC stop wearing footie pj's 24/7
this whole idiotic quest for footie pj's got me thinking....
DS is in the 95% for height... so he's wearing 12 mo clothes while he's only 3.5 mo old. I noticed it was difficult to find footie pjs in that size... only smaller sizes were in abundance.
that got me thinking... when did your DC start wearing 'big kid clothing' during the day (pants/sweatshirts or jeans)? I looked it up... the average boy (50% percentile for height) is DS's height at 7-8 months. Are most kids wearing 'big kid clothes' by then?

He's been in onesies and pants from day one. I didn't think there was a waiting period

Re: when did DC stop wearing footie pj's 24/7
My 6 month old DS is off the charts for height but is still fitting in 12 month feetie pj's. I think it depends on the brand. But my 2 yr old DD still wears them and she's in the 95th percentile for height.

DD wore regular clothes during the day from the day we brought her home from the hospital. We make a point to change her out of her pj's after breakfast.

I always had sweatpants for him...even as a newborn I'd put him in little man pants sometimes!! But I started him in jeans and regular shirts at around 9 months. I haven't bought an outfit that was one piece since then (except pjs).

Re: when did DC stop wearing footie pj's 24/7
My DS wore clothes everyday.
And since your DS is so tall, then I would think that outfits would be easier since you could either get longer pants or t shirts. Not everything may be 12 months and he could fit into stuff longer, you know?

My son is 30lbs and still wears footie pjs to sleep at night.
During the day he wears alot of sweatsuits and running pants. Very casual/comfy
ETA: He wears the pjs from Children's Place - they have in all sizes.

We have always done the same!
Except on Thursdays for some reason! Oh wait....that's DH's day off with Logan.........I think they BOTH stay in their PJ's that day ALL day!

Re: when did DC stop wearing footie pj's 24/7
I should answer my own question:
almost always he's in footie pj's.... becuase it's so easy to change his diaper with them....
I just guessed the manufacturer's make fewer 12 mo footie pjs, and that's why there were so few in the stores, and so many smaller sizes? I thought maybe many kids transition out of one piece PJ's when they begin to crawl
yeah, it definitely would be easier for DS to wear pants instead of one piece PJ's since he's so tall... a little more flexible in the length dept with a 2 piece outfit.... but I have the problem that both daddy and Oma don't like changing him when he's wearing pants and a onesies... they consider it a hassle
I dressed him today in a sweatsuit and t-shirt... Let's see if I get complaints this afternoon from the peanut gallery

Re: when did DC stop wearing footie pj's 24/7
DS is now 13 months, so he wears big boy clothing all the time during the day now, unless he's home sick. Even then, he often does get dressed. I think he started wearing outfits on a regular basis when he was 4 months.
It's funny you bring this up--this was discussed last year, and I think myself and one other parent were the only ones who left our children in the footsies until about 4 months, and once again, most parents seem to view the pjs as sloppy or something. Personally, I think the little ones should be comfy, and you should dress them in a way that's easy for you when they are very young. DS also is tall and outgrew his clothes quickly. Since I had no hand-me-downs and few clothes given as gifts past 3 months, I just couldn't see spending the extra $$$ on outfits when he was so little, didn't know better, and was in the house a lot. So it's up to you. If the pjs work for you, I would keep DC in them a little longer.
I should add that DS got a different pair of Pjs for day and night--we didn't leave him in the same clothes all day long.

Landon wore regular outfits from day 1. Sometimes (like on Saturday for example) when we stay in all day and its cold he will stay in his footed PJs. But most of the time its regular clothes.

See now I find the opposite. When DD is wearing her one piece zip up PJ's and I change her again before bed..I find it to be a total pain to stuff her legs back into the PJ's. 2 pieces are sooo much easier for me. Of course I don't take the pants completely off either, maybe that's why.

I dress both DC from the day they got home in regular outfits. On a few lazy days I kept them in one piece outfits but I made getting dressed part of our daily routine.

I think it is easier to change my DS in clothes, rather than footies.
Also, I don't think they make less in the 12 month sizes, but I think that b/c it is the end of January and the stupid way that retail works, spring clothes are out, you know?
