When did you start giving table food? With some additional questions
I believe it's around 8 months or so but I can't remember.
Also, what did you start with?
And, when can we start giving puffs? 7 months?
When do they start picking up food on their own?

Re: When did you start giving table food? With some additional questions
There are really no set answers to your questions as every baby is different.
DS was introduced some "bits" at around 7 months but did not like anything on his tounge. Introduced puffs at 8 1/2 months and he's loved them ever since.
A week and a half after that, he had his first pancake and loved it and since then, I give him bits of things to try. DH and I eat after he's in bed so his experimenting is not that varried.
You have to just try. The puffs do say "for crawlers" so take that for what you want it to be. DS started crawling at around 9 1/2 months (a month after puffs).
Put some on the tray and see if DC grabs them with the pincer grasp (thumb and pointer finger) and knows to eat them. And watch to make sure they know what to do with it once in the mouth. Teeth or not, they will "chew" or work it around with saliva to desolve it.
But any gagging or frequent choking, I'd hold off another few weeks. There's no rush.
You'll see, if you drip some puree on the tray, DC should grab at it with the pincer. That's a good sign. They have to be ready to feed themselves, not you putting a puff in their mouth.

ds still grabs things with his whole hand...is there any way to get him to use the pincer grasp?

Re: When did you start giving table food? With some additional questions
We started to give DS table food around 6.5 months...I started to give him tiny pieces of bagels, string beans, & pretty much anything we were eating. Once DS was 7 months, I started to give him pieces of meat.
At 6 months I also started him on Wagon wheels...He loved them from the getgo, so we tried puffs but he didn't like them. At around 6.5 months he started to like them

Re: When did you start giving table food? With some additional questions
Well I think it depends on when you started solids. My ped has us start solids at 6 months since I BF so he has us start finger foods later than others might. I started a bit earlier than he would have liked at 9 months. His only request was not to give her puffs or cheerios first and only if she could pick them up with a pincer grasp (which she could the 1st time we tried) otherwise he says they are a choking hazard. I didn't try earlier so I don't know if either would have started sooner (but with DD#2 I could be wrong but I think he had us start cheerios and puffs at 10 months).
Etd to add the ped mentioned if they pick up the food with their fists they aren't ready for table foods and they are choking hazards.

If you started solids at 7 and 8 months did your kids have teeth?
Derek doesnt have any and TJ didnt get his first tooth until almost 11 mo. so I am assuming Derek is following in his footsteps.

puffs.. 7 or 8 months. I think I started closer to 8. And table food I would say closer to 9 but, before 9 months. He was able to pick up fistfuls of puffs but, wan't able to do it really well until 10 months-ish.

Re: When did you start giving table food? With some additional questions
Our Ped said around 9 months. Like lilyKat , he said no puffs/cherrios etc till they have a pincher grasp as they will sorta "throw them" in their mouths and the force is a choking hazard.
We do avocado now....and will do egg yolkds in the next few weeks...And then yogurt but other then that We wont start much else for another 8 weeks or so.

Re: When did you start giving table food? With some additional questions
Lola has been munching on Happy Bellies Puffs here and there. She loves them!
But other than that nothing.
ETA - I remember Bella being on pretty much all sorts of table foods around 7/8 months.

Re: When did you start giving table food? With some additional questions
I know we were doig yogurt at 6 months and I believe avacado. By 8 months he was starting to get little pieces of a lot of what we were eating. By 10 months I know he was eating a lot of table food like Gerber Graduates, waffles, chicken fingers, etc.. And he was entirely on table food around a year.

Re: When did you start giving table food? With some additional questions
Ds is almost 9 months and the only thing he has had so far is broken up baby mum mums and the happy bellies puffs broken in 1/2. I started them about a month ago. I leave them on his tray and he feeds himself. I'll probably start more table foods soon.
