When did you stop kissing boo-boos
and tell your kiddos to suck it up? In not so many words.

Re: When did you stop kissing boo-boos
Am I a mean mommy?
Unless DD really hurts herself I tell her it's not a big deal. If she hurts herself bad (not bad like emergency room bad, just bad as in I know it had to hurt) I kiss her, but I tell her she's okay.

Re: When did you stop kissing boo-boos
I still kiss my 5yr olds booboos
BUT with both my big boys, it depends on how the booboo came to be.
If they are goofing around after I just told them to STOP goofing around (moms can see it coming), when I hear a bumpitybang (if they bump into eachother or one falls on top of the other) they START to attempt to come to me, and they know better.
they can tattletale all they want, but if the booboo was "their own fault" after I told them not to do something, they rarely even come to me... I give them the "what did I just tell you?" look
but all otherbooboos, mommy kisses to make em better.. it works somehow
ETA: Actually quite often, I hear them say to eachother "you want a boo-boo kiss ?"

Re: When did you stop kissing boo-boos
My DD is not at that age yet, but there will be no kissing boo-boos in our house. It is not something I want to teach her b/c of the health risks associated with it.

Okay good, I don't feel like a bad mom now!
It's good though, she doesn't fuss when she bumps herself, I guess cause me and DH don't make a deal out of it.

Yeah, I mean, unless either of them really hurts themselves, we don't like to make a big deal out of it. They bounce back alot quicker from it, rather than making a scene over it. lol

Re: When did you stop kissing boo-boos
well now you guys got me thinking.. 90% of the time, my boys' boo-boos are the ones I mentioned that DONT get boo-boo kisses...
I definitely am not a smothering overly "poor baby" kinda mom. but when i feel bad, a kiss works wonders.

Re: When did you stop kissing boo-boos
If DS falls down or bumps himself and I see it is not serious, we tell him to "shake it off" and he does He will shake hands!

Re: When did you stop kissing boo-boos
If DS bumps his head or falls I dont make a big deal of it and I dont go running over or gasp (unless it is serious). So most of the time he just gets back up and wont cry. I think your reaction startles them more. So I know he is hurt when he actually cries. I make sure he is OK and tell "you are fine dont cry".

Re: When did you stop kissing boo-boos
If my daughter asks me to kiss her boo-boo, I do it. Why wouldn't I? We don't make a huge deal about it but I kiss it "make it better" and we go on about our day.
What are the health risks involved with kissing a boo-boo?

Re: When did you stop kissing boo-boos
I kissed all my sons booboos, but now at 4 he says no, that doesn't really help. Rubbing and a hug helps. I do not feel I am babying him, he is one tough cookie.
