Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
At about 2 months...she's EBF but from a bottle. She does wake at 5 though for a feeding (or was up until 2 days ago), but she goes down at 8.

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
I stopped when DD was ready to stop (which was at about 2 or 3 months, I don't even remember!). I was also EBF at the time. IMO, don't listen to your doctor, but listen to your DS instead.

DD is formula fed and is 12 weeks. She started skipping a feeding around 3 weeks ago.

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
at 6 weeks DD started sleeping through the night. I pump, so she gets an extra large bottle of BM and it satisifies her for the whole night.

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
DS is 8.5 months and still wakes up to eat in the middle of the night. My ped told us to stop the middle of the night feeding at 5 months as well. We did and it worked until just before he turned 8 months and he got sick, then it was the holidays, then we went away, you know how it goes
Now he is doing better. But he is older, so I've been giving him a big dinner closer to bedtime and he has been making it from about 9pm-4am or so. Plus for the last couple of days, he has been getting a tooth, so he has hated the bottle anyway, so if he wakes up, I feed him because I feel he isn't eating enough durin gthe day (4oz yesterday )

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
if he is hungry I would feed him, I still do if my son wakes up in the middle of the night and he is over 6 months old... I ask my pediatrician about it and she wasnt too concerned about it, I guess different doctors look at it differently...

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
DS now 6 mons was sleeping thru the night from about 2.5-3months old up until about 2 weeks ago when started waking up @ 3am. The first week he put himself back to sleep but this past week he has been crying and not falling back to sleep also has not been eating as much as he usually doeswould feed him. My peds told me yesterday to let him CIO too since he is getting food and formula throughout the day. Lastnight we tried it btw changing his diaper, rocking him for about 10-15mins putting him back in the crib slightly wake but he just screamed. I assume he is teething so I just tried nightime oragel and rocked him for about another 10-15mins while he sucked his thumb and then he was out. Overall it took an hour. Then it was hard for me to get back to bed @ 4am. I hope it gets better.

Last night I did the usual. Bedtime at 10pm, he wakes up at 4am for a feeding and then sleeps til around 7am, then we nap in my bed til around 9:30am.
Really....I'm looking at this and at the doctor. For one feeding a night, I wouldn't sweat it at 4 months old. If it's bothering you, then that's a different story.
If you do want to cut out that 4AM feeding, I'd recommend just trying to push it later and later every morning. One morning try to get DS to wait until 4:30 for a few mornings. Then try to get him to wait until 5AM. It will eventually end up cutting out the feeding.
My DD was an early sleeper so (6PM) so I would dream feed her at 10 PM before I went to bed. She still woke once a night until around 6 months. I BF'ed also.
ETA: His last feeding should be as close to bedtime as possible. Do you nurse him to sleep?

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
I didn't read all the responses, but I think your doc is nuts to try to tell you when your baby does and doesn't need to eat. All babies develop differently and you're setting yourself up for failure and frustration to try to fit your son into a mold.
Read your baby -- only you and he will know when it is time to cut out night feedings. At 14 months, my breastfed baby still eats at 4:30 am.
Please remember that most docs are used to dealing with formula fed babies who often go longer between feedings -- his advice may be way off the mark for you. As for, CIO, do some research into it and if it doesn't feel right (it doesn't for me) don't do it.
Your doctor is simply giving you his opinion -- take it the same way you would take your MIL's or a friend's advice -- there are no medical studies that indicate that all 4 month olds can sleep through the night and need to be subjected to CIO.
Sorry to ramble, but I get super-frustrated when docs dish out this half-baked advice to moms.

Wait a sec. How old is he? When my doctor told us to stop feeding Christopher at night, he was 5 months and eating THREE times per night. My ped said that between 11pm and 5am is when he shouldn't be waking to eat, so basically, that is what you are doing
I don't know if you should cut out that feeding if he is tiny

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
Not yet, my DS is almost 6 weeks. He gave up his midnight feeding the last 2 nights, so he is going from around 9 pm to 4 am between feedings. Don't know if that will continue though, and I'm trying to convince him to keep the midnight feeding and drop the 4 am!

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
The weirdest thing is (not to scare anyone ) is that when he turned around 8-9 weeks old, he was sleeping through the night anywhere from 7-9 hours straight and then all of a sudden around the time he was turning 4 months, he needed to be fed again in the middle of the night. He is eating cereal for breakfast and dinner. And I feed him his "final" dinner and then when he starts nodding off, I swaddle him and rock him to sleep and then I put him in his crib. He usually doesnt wake up until that 4-5am feeding.
I am sticking with feeding him if he wants it for now... sooner or later he will prefer to sleep at night than eat like alot of you ladies are saying.

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
DD still wakes up 1x to eat at 13 weeks.
She goes down at about 8pm and is up anytime between 4am & 6am.

I think this is so common, once you get them sleeping well something happens (teething, growth spurt, illness, etc.). That's the main reason that I take a relaxed attitude toward sleeping -- you'll drive yourself nuts if you try to force anything. Support positive sleeping patterns and create positive sleep associations that's pretty much all you can do!

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
Both my kids were sleeping 12 our nights starting about 3 months, so I guess it was just about then. If I heard them fuss at night, I had a 2 minute rule. I waited, and it always felt longer than 2 minutes, but they usually got themselves back to sleep!

Re: When did you stop the middle of the night feeding?
DD is 8 weeks old and still gets up. Instead of every 2 hours like before it's not every 4 hours. We put cereal in her midnight feeding but it does nothing. I thought you were supposed to feed on demand until they were 6 months old?
