When did you stop using the infant carrier/snap & go

This is going to sound very weird, but I am always so hesitant to do anything new with DD. I told DH that I will be trying to put her in the infant carrier and baby bathtub when she's 8! Chat Icon

Anyway, I know they have to be a certain weight or age to sit in a regular car seat, but her legs are very close to touching the back seat. Should I turn it around to face the front?

Also, do I wait until she can sit unsupported to use a regular stroller? I do think she could probably sit in a regular one because my mom has one of those booster seat type things that she sits in.

Re: When did you stop using the infant carrier/snap & go

We stopped when Jacob was 6.5 - 7 months old. He was getting to be too tall for the seat and it was getting too heavy for me to carry (he was 28.5 inches and maybe 17-18lbs).

Don't turn the seat around until she is 1 year AND 20lbs. The regular car seat should be rearfacing until then.

Does your stroller recline? If so, she doesn't have to be sitting all the way up to use it.

I hope this helps Chat Icon

Thank you! My DD will be 7 mo so I guess I should try to use the regular carseat then. I haven't even looked at the stroller since I registered for it. Chat Icon I'll have to take a look. Thanks again.

I just thought of something though...if I use the carseat facing backwards, do I have to worry about her legs being scrunched up?

Re: When did you stop using the infant carrier/snap & go

I'm still using the infant Carrier and snap and go and DS is 5 months. The infant Carrier is getting so heavy, I don't know how much longer I can use it. I'm going to try to make it until at least 7 months.
My MIL has a convertible car seat in her car and he fits perfect in it. As the other poster stated, make sure you keep all your car seats rear facing until a year of age.
I have been using my regular stroller since DS has been 3 months. Just recline the seat a little and she will be fine. DS is just starting to sit up on his own, and I can put the seat completely upright with no problem.

Re: When did you stop using the infant carrier/snap & go

I think it's different for every child. My DS personally HATED being in the infant carrier from day 1. As soon as he was capable of being in a regular stroller which was about 3 1/2 months, I stopped using the snap and go. Now I don't even take the carrier out of the car, I just take DS out of it when ever I have someplace to go. I also just introduced him to sitting in the grocery cart at 4 1/2 months. We have the fabric piece that goes onto the seat.

If you switch to a Convertible car seat she will have more room. I would still keep the seat rear facing though, her legs should be fine.

Re: When did you stop using the infant carrier/snap & go

I moved Charlotte over to the convertible carseat at 11.5 months. When she falls asleep in her carseat now, I miss the days of being able to slip her infant carrier into a snap-n-go and go shopping Chat Icon I'd say keep DC in the infant carrier as long as you can.

Re: When did you stop using the infant carrier/snap & go

I just recently stopped using the snap-n-go at 7 months. I still use the infant carriers as car seats though because it is easier for me to bring them in and out of the house that way.
I stopped using the snap-n-go because I could tell they were not liking being reclined when in the stroller. They like to sit up and look around.

A baby does not have to sit unsupported to be in a reg. stroller.

Re: When did you stop using the infant carrier/snap & go

My DD hated the infant carrier. We just switched her to the regular carseat (rear facing) at 4 months. She is still not a huge fan of the car & being strapped in but she is getting better. Also, she probably weighs about 16 lbs so that is a lot of weight to carry around in the infant seat.
