When did you switch from puppy food to adult food?
I just had my dog fixed yesterday. He is 6 months old. When do I switch to adult food?

When we got Kasey she was about 3-4 months old, they couldn't tell us exactly. She had just been spayed.
She was about 7-8 months when we switched her from puppy to adult food. We asked the vet first and they said it was OK to go ahead. We did it gradually, slowing taking out the puppy food and adding more adult food each day for about 2 weeks.

Our vet told us to switch over at our last appt, Riley is 4 mths now; well he said we can either buy large breed puppy food, or just give her adult food...we opted for adult b/c we have two other dogs and its easier and cheaper.
He said she will still get all the nutrients she needs from the adult food, it will just slow her growth a little, which is fine, b/c she will be a big dog.
eta: with our other two dogs we switched at 1 year.

We were told to wait until Yogi is 12 months old. He is 10 months now.

Vet had us ween off of puppy food for Jasmine at 3 months..she said that she is going to be a big girl (80-100lbs) and although she is going to get big I have to get her there slowly by weening her off. I also have a Rottie Pup so I think it depends on breed. GOOD LUCK!

As per my Vet I switched at 6 months.
