When did your child learn "NO"
My son is 13 months and I feel like I repeat is over and over and over. Sometimes he'll freeze but then he continues to go after what he wanted in the first place.
Just wondering when your child learned and responded to "NO".

Re: When did your child learn "NO"
my son just turned two yesterday and only within the past few months has he really consistantly responded and understood there are consequences to NO etc.
I am sure he got it before but didn't understand the consequence part.

Re: When did your child learn "NO"
Declan is 13 months and he gets it. He doesn't always listen but I know he understands. He even says "no" and "don't touch" with a naughty little grin while he does something he isn't suppose to he has been doing that since 11 months. Little stinker!
I know he understands because when he climbs up on the couch and stands up he listens without hesitation when I tell him to sit down or to get down.

Re: When did your child learn "NO"
DD has been saying "no no no no no" (she even waves her finger while saying it) since about 12 months. She doesn't "get" it yet though. She'll say "no no no no no" to something that we've said no to in the past and then she'll go and touch it.

DD is pretty much the same way at 11 months. She selectively listens to no.

Re: When did your child learn "NO"
DD is 17 months and we try very hard not use the word "NO". Our nanny was a daycare teacher so she is really good at redirecting DD's behavior without using that word. I have followed her lead but there are times we have used it as a reaction. I think DD responds very well to our tone of voice. She knows when something is ok and when something is just not.

Re: When did your child learn "NO"
They knew what "NO" mean at 10 months or so but didn't always listen
At 15 months they are starting to listen a little more. Or they smile, do it anyway and run away!

Re: When did your child learn "NO"
DD is almost 2 and has known NO for a while now but just recently started "listening" to me.
Instead of using NO, try to explain it.
"please don't throw that" or " if you do that then this will happen" See if he responds better to that.
