When did your child stop using the swing?
DS only naps in the swing. We have tried transitioning him to the crib while napping, but it hasn't gone well. I see the swing says it's okay until 30 pounds, or when the child tries to climb out. When did your child stop using it? Was it because they were trying to climb out? I don't want to wean too early if I don't have to.

Re: When did your child stop using the swing?
We just put it away this week. She is 7.5 months, and only weighs 16 pounds but she just wasn't interested in it any more. When she is awake, she likes more active toys and she naps in her crib.

Re: When did your child stop using the swing?
When they were trying to climb out? Definitely!!! When my kids woud rock in it and it sort of seemed like it was going at a snail's pace - barely moving, it seemed to me that they were done. I can't remember the age but both of those things would make me say it's done. I remember being sad when my DS #1 was done. It was such a great tool.

Oh geez. I didn't mean that DS was trying to climb out!!!!! If that were the case, I wouldn't ask.
I'm asking if you waited until your child was trying to climb out, what age was it about? DS is 7.5 months, but if I hear that most kids don't try to climb out until after 12 months, we might not try to wean this early. The swing is our only chance at sanity during the day and I don't know when to wean.

Re: When did your child stop using the swing?
This is a good question-DD only wants to nap in her swing too so I'm dreading putting it away. She isn't trying to climb out though she does sort of hang over the right side to look over sometimes.

Re: When did your child stop using the swing?
Brooke is not even 6 month old and she is done with it. She use to nap in it but now after 5 minutes wants out. I still put her in it while I work out right in front of her. But that doeasn't last long.

Oh...well thank goodness I do recall my DS reaching out and holding onto the stationary part of the swing and stopping it a few times which worried me. Now that I think about it, I think they were around 8-9 months. Listen, if he's not doing anything except enjoying it and it's your sanity in the day, keep using it. He will adapt when the time comes, they always do. I personally wouldn't worry about weaning him off it. I mean, if he is soundly sleeping one day after walk in the stroller or something, you can try putting him in the crib to nap instead (I'm assuming he's taking his naps in the swing-my oldest did all the time too) and see how it works but otherwise, keep the daytime thing going and enjoy the naptime reprieve.

I'd say around 5 months...it just didn't fit his "lifestyle" lol...he would get frustrated and was starting to sit up in it...

Re: When did your child stop using the swing?
I just gave ours to my SIL (they have an 8week old). My DS is 6 months, and really has no interest in it anymore, so I figured why not let another baby get use of it.
