when did your dc start playing w/ toys in the "right " way?
when did your dc start playing w/ toys in the "right " way? by right way i mean instead of eating them.
ds plays with some toys (drum, balls, etc. ) but i mean toys like: shape sorters, stackers, etc.

Well, DS feels all the textures on his textured toys and he shakes his rattles and he swings at the toys on his little exercise gym AND he puts things in his mouth. I think he's doing just fine, exploring all his things. He's not playing chess, though. Shape sorters and stackers, he kinda watches what I do but he will make a small attempt to imitate.

I know what you mean..Im saying 12 months...it's been awhile but I remember with the last ones that I made the realization that "age range" for a toy is always about 6 months off. For example the shape sorter says 6m when in actuality they dont really sort shapes until about a year (they get the circle/ball down first)...another toy might say 9m..more like 15 months before they start playing with it approprately...OMG I hope this makes sense.

That is definitely true but then you see all those toys that say 6 months, and by 3-4 months there is certainly some use for them. DS has the learning puppy dog and even though I press the hands and feet to get it to sing, he loves it. We bought the superstar stage and I think that as long as I can get him into a sitting position to see it properly, he will love it before 6 months. I guess I'm saying this because I want things to do with him and I am enjoying showing him the toys that he will eventually play with in a more correct way. If he gets use of them for a longer time, that is just a bonus!!!!!

The "right" way doesn't always last long. After a while, everything "needs" to be crashed, stacked & knocked down, banged, etc...

I know - Jack loves his singing stage and the piano - but the little toys that I try to get him to play with - he just really doesn't have any interest in yet - unless to put it in his mouth.
I feel bad bc he has soooooo many toys that hardly get played with now.
