When did your toddler stop riding in a stroller and walk to most places?
We will be moving out of the city this summer and will start driving to more places. I'm assuming that DS (will be 26-27m) will not need to ride a stroller much, just walk with us or ride in a shopping cart.
When did you stop taking a stroller around everywhere for your toddler?
I'm considering just getting a sit and stand instead of a double stroller.
Or will I still need a double stroller for an infant and a 2.5 yo?

Ah.... thanks for this safe topic to post on!
My DS is 2 and I pretty much stopped bringing the stroller everywhere unless it involves a ton of walking. We got a sit and stand when I had DS and DD just turned 2. I never had a double stroller.

At around 2 years old. Then when I had #2 she wanted to be in one bc the baby was in one. That lasted a month or so.

My kids are 26 months apart less one day. I got the double stroller. I had DS test out a sit and stand and he did not like it. Can you have your older DC test out doubles and sit and stand type strollers? DS used the double with DD until he was 3. Frankly, it was easier for me because then I did not have to worry about him running away. At this point (3 & 1/2) he can stand on the back of our peg single stroller when he needs to but he prefers to walk.

Did you end up buying a double stroller?

It is hard enough to get DS to get into his own stroller.
When we went to go check out strollers, DS was so busy running around that we did not try testing the strollers out with him.
He did kick out of the phil and ted's. I think he just didn't want to be constrained anywhere.

Around 1yr old. She started walking about 1yr and within 4-6 we retired the stroller. I use an umbrella stroller once in a blue moon (like the airport trip to hawaii) but really she walks everywhere all the time

Re: When did your toddler stop riding in a stroller and walk to most places?
When she started walking..lol. Seriously when she started walking she didn't want anything to do with the stroller. We still carried it and some days she went in if we went somewhere with a lot of walking, but she wanted to be a free bird. Now that we have DS coming, we bought the sit n stand, hoping maybe she'll be kind to her mom and stay on it.

My DC are 2 and 3 and I still use the stroller to walk them places and when we take the car and go shopping I still put them both in the stroller.

DS is almost 2. I still use the stroller, because we go out a lot. If I have to go into a store and I know it won't be too long, he will walk. But if we're going to a mall, I'll put him in the stroller. I use shopping carts too.

I think all children are different! DS1 LOVED (and still does at 4 1/2) the stroller! DS2, never really liked to be constrained. I can't tell you how many times I ended up carrying DS2 and pushing DS1 in the stroller! And that is in a double or single stroller. Even still, when we have a stroller with us, DS2 walks and we push DS1

Re: When did your toddler stop riding in a stroller and walk to most places?
DS was 22 months when DS#2 was born
I bought the kickstand for my bugaboo so he could ride on it if he got tired of walking
we also have the citi mini for longer outings when both kids will need a stroller (they are 4 and 2 now)

DS is over 3 and still in the stroller regularly. She was 33 months when DS was born, so we bought a sit-n-stand. She loves that thing!

DS surprisingly liked it until he was 3. Since he turned 3, he muchs prefers the toddler board on the Bugaboo.

Re: When did your toddler stop riding in a stroller and walk to most places?
DS (2.5) can be a runner sometimes. So for short quick trips in a store he walks or sits in the shopping cart.
But for the mall the stroller is still a must.
Of course when arrive he has to walk....maybe I'll get a leash for him

Re: When did your toddler stop riding in a stroller and walk to most places?
By the age of 2 my DD just had no interest in the stroller, she wanted to walk EVERYWHERE. I can barely even keep her in a cart!! I still keep the stroller in the car just in case and I always take it with us on vacation because she can't keep up all day walking but on every day errands she walks everywhere. She turned 2 in Sept.

Re: When did your toddler stop riding in a stroller and walk to most places?
DS will be 3 in April and he still rides in the stroller.
The only time he is allowed to walk is if DH is with me so we can each be responsible for one child.
By myself, with 2 kids - always a stroller. I don't trust DS unless he is strapped in.
