when do infants begin to play with toys and use a play mat?
Eryk's still too young (2 weeks)... but when should I try to introduce a little lamaze toy or the boppy playmat? at 1 mo? 2 mo?

We put Kaydyn on her mat probably when she was around 2 months and could see better. We had rattles, and keys and stuff like that for her that we would dangle in front of her at that age.

I started at 5 weeks spending 10 minutes a day on the activity mat and showing her some toys.

You can start an activity mat from birth since they need the tummy time anyway.

I had her on the mat from the day we brought her home from the hospital. We had the Boppy playmat which came with a little mini boopy pillow. We used to prop her head up on it and she would love falling asleep like that.

both my kids were on the playmat from day 1 and they both LOVED it. Now that I had to pull it back out for my DS my DD (who's 2) will still lay under it with him and play
I have the Tiny Love one with animals that hang down.

I went to BBB yesterday and got DD a playmat - she just turned 4 months. I probably should have gotten one earlier, but she wasn't ready to roll over just yet. The mat I had was getting too small for her. I got her this one:

i think around that time i put him on his little play gym mat. i didnt use the tummy time mat until a little later, but that was because he hated it and i couldnt deal with any more crying than i already had to deal with.

DD liked looking at toys, but moreso people, very early on. At around 3 months she began really reaching for, grabbing, and pulling on toys.
