when do you buy the nursery furniture

i heard from a btdt mom that sometimes you have to wait upto 20 weeks for furniture delivery. is this true? which week should you order your furniture?

it entirely depends on where you buy it and where it comes from.

i believe baby bargains has a whole thing about it....most furniture is custom ordered, because it's just too big to keeo 'in storage'...so you may need some time to get it in...

i'd start looking now and find out how much lead time you need. MOST stores will keep it for you until you need it...

We are ordering the crib the weekend of the Level II.
My mom is flying up to go with us for the sono and since she offered to pay for the crib, we'll do that while she's here as well.

We have all intentions of ordering it immediately after the level II. The crib set we like takes 14-16 weeks to come in & since our baby is going directly into the crib, we need it in time for the baby. DH was just saying that we might go after my next appt (16w) & order it to be safe

We ordered the crib/dresser when I was about 21 or 22 weeks from Behr's ........it was available right after new years, but we had them hold it until we were finished prepping the room -

We ordered a glider from them as well about 2 weeks ago ........they said it should take about 6 weeks -

Honestly it depends on the brand you want to buy. With this baby we got a Munire set from Behr's I had no intention of buying it as early as we did - but it was at a good price and they were having a sale for the three day weekend - well they told me 8-14 weeks and it was in I think 4 weeks later.

With DD#1 I purchased a Pali set also from Behr's and guess what - I was nervous it wouldn't make it in time. We bought it end of January and it only arrived the 2nd week in June! I asked for it in May so that it would have time to get the new smell out and just have the nursery set up. Actually the dresser came in before the crib did. It took longer than what they had quoted.

So the moral is ask how long it takes and expect it to take at LEAST that if not more. I would give yourself no less than 20 weeks unless you buy from a place that carries items in stock.

Etd to add Behr's holds furniture for free for as long as you want them to - so there is no harm in ordering from them early b.c you have can them hold it until you are ready to have it delivered.

I went with the "after Level II" time frame also. Just ordered from Behrs at about 21 weeks and was told delivery could be 8-14 weeks but they can hold it if we're not ready. He marked us down for early June.

I was due this past September. I ordered my furniture in early July and it was delivered in early August.

depends on the store but I know for sure that Babies R Us is 7-14 days as long as the pieces are in the warehouse.

I ordered mine from BRU the week I started my 2nd trimester. It ended up being on backorder and we didn't receive it until 3 weeks before DS was born!

We purchased at 14 weeks. Everything but the changing top will be delivered tomorrow! I'm shocked that 16 weeks later the changing top still isn't in but at least I have 9 weeks before I need it.

We ordered at 24 weeks. They said it could take 8 to 12 weeks and they will hold until we are ready for delivery.

It depends on the company that you order your furniture from. I am 23 weeks and I ordered the furniture last week. They will hold the furniture until I want it delivered which will probably be at the beginning of may since I am due June 20th.
