When do you stop buying things for your classroom?

I have been teaching almost 6 years...I really have no desire to step foot into a teacher store and or Staples to purchase any more crap. Am I alone???

Re: When do you stop buying things for your classroom?

I have jumped around for the last 5 years. I have no desire to go to a teaching store (besides as a HS teacher I feel that my choices are limited).

But I do LOOOOOVVVEEE the staples sales. I always take advantage of the cheap items because I go through so many pencils, folders and loose leaf!

I am in my 4th year and pretty much have what I need for the classroom. Looking into gym equipment because I have to teach it and we have barely anything in the gym!

I have no desire what so ever. I do want to get the marble notebooks when they go on sale. I also need hall passes. Maybe I can order them online lol.

This is my 7th year and I haven't bought anything the past few years. I get a lot of $$$ through my district to buy supplies, so why spend my own??

You are so not alone. This will be my 10th year teaching and I have no desire to spend my money on anything classroom related.

ha ha ha ...I am SOO sick of spending the money, but unofrtunately, I think it's par for the course with the job. There are always things I need to replenish each year

Re: When do you stop buying things for your classroom?

10 years in and I cannot believe how much I have bought. I still spend every year but I am way more cautious when spending. I wait to see what the needs of my students are and buy appropriately, I don't necessarily run out and buy before the year starts like I used to. I agree, spending just comes with the teaching territory.

this is my attitude either, I'm very lucky to have a large budget.

but now that DS is going to school, I'm at staples for the deals (not for supplies, b/c I order those through the pta/local drug store) to buy for his teacher/classroom and I guess in case he needs anything for HW.

3rd year and I didn't really buy anything last year.Chat Icon

This year....?! I'll just recycle everything I used last year.

Laminating my posters, etc. has been KEY in not buying new stuff.
