When do you stop cutting their food into tiny pieces?
DD is 18 months old and I just cut 1/2 of a mini bagel into 16 piece When do you bite the bullet and let them take bites out of food? Ex Pizza, sandwiches ect.... I am so scared of choking.

I still do at 20 months too. I am a nervous nut about him choking.

Re: When do you stop cutting their food into tiny pieces?
DS is 18 months---I would say the majority of the time I still cut stuff up, but he started showing interest to take bites of things (sandwiches, pizza, bagels, cereal bar) so I let him, with me holding the food and him taking a bite (so I had some control of how much he put in his mouth). If I give him a mini bagel now he can eat it all on his own, but always with me watching!!

I forget w/ DD, but it was sooner rather than later---maybe I'm too lax but probably from around 16 months or so. BUT still to this day she tends to take big pieces & put them in her mouth. Thankfully she's never gagged or choked. She's 25 months now

Re: When do you stop cutting their food into tiny pieces?
I stopped by 12 months. Starting at 12 months, their pizza and sandwiches I would give whole. But I do still(at 22 months old(I also cut my 3 year olds this way in case my 22 month old gets a hold of them) cut things like grapes into small pieces.

When she grabbed the grape, ran away and put the entire thing in her mouth before I could catch her and didn't choke! I think that was 3 weeks ago - so just when she hit 19 months.

DD is 14 months. I cut most things, but she will chew on a strawberry or an ear of corn. She showed interest in it.

Ryan is 13 months. He has been chewing things (taking bites) for at least 2 months now.
A mini bagel I will give to him in quarters. Same thing with sandwiches. Grapes I still cut in half because I am afraid of it just slipping down his throat.
