when do you stop saying months?

DD is 6 months but I keep hearing a woman at working saying her dd is 36 months...for real? When does it end. Like when can she just be 1 or 2?

Re: when do you stop saying months?

Katherine is 21 months and just recently I started saying, "She'll be 2 in September." I think around 2 is the cutoff for saying months.

Re: when do you stop saying months?

I think once they hit 2yrs you should go by year and 1/2yr. Like he's 2 or 2 1/2. By 3 yrs old I think talking in months is just ridiculous.

Okay so if your child is turning 1 this month you would say my child is turning 1 or 12 months?

Re: when do you stop saying months?

I stopped as soon as she hit 1 year.

Her 1 year birthday she was 1 years old, not 12 months.

Re: when do you stop saying months?

up to 2 years old, i would think. But, if you are right near a birthday, I would say almost 1 or he turned 1 last month. KWIM?

I agree. Mainly because there is a huge difference developmentally between a 13 month old & an 18 month old.

LOL...I read your post and the award goes to DDUNE for
"Two....someone once told me their little girl was 32 months. I was like...what the heck is that?? Why do I have to do math to figure out how old your child is? "
This is EXACTLY what I was thinking when my co-worker friend told me her dd's age. I felt like I had a math problem...hehe

I think I'm done with months at a year also (in 2 weeks!).

She can also be "just over a year", "a year and a half", or "almost 2" - to get more specific with age. I already started rounding up, when people ask how old she is now I say "almost 1".
