When do you think I should hear back?

I always have issues with this. If I don't hear back right away from a place I assume it is bad news.

I was shortlisted for an editorial job and sent in my assessment test of the 23rd of May. It was due the 25th. I haven't heard back from them yet. Do you think this is a bad sign? Or is this reasonable given that there was a holiday soon after the test was due?

I should probably hear this week, right? I hate this waiting game.

I'm so bad with this. When I worked for the state, I interviewed in Jan and didn't get hired until Aug. And, my job now took 3 weeks after they did my background check and checked my references. I think you are still good.....alot of places, like mine, you have to use up your time before July 1 and alot of people are out. I hope you will hear this week, that seems reasonable, but like I said, they sometimes can take awhile. I wouldn't say you are out yet.
