When does low blood pressure become an issue?
Other than the usual fainting, dizziness thing - at what point does a person need to be on medication?
It doesn't really effect me - except for an occasional dizziness feeling.
I had a check-up yesterday & told the nurse beforehand that it's usually low (80/60).
She said mine was the lowest she's ever seen. It was 80/52.

Re: When does low blood pressure become an issue?
If it is usually low, then it shouldn't be a problem. Are you an athlete? (like run, etc.) What did the doctor say at your exam?

She was checking much lower & wasn't all interested in my heart.
It's usually low. As for athlete, the only excercise I regularly do is run for the train.
I guess I'll wait until I hit the floor to worry about it & the in the meantime start drinking & eating some more.
Thanks everyone!

Re: When does low blood pressure become an issue?
http://www.webmd.com/hypertension-high-blood-pressure/guide/understanding-low-blood-pressure-basics
Hypotension is the medical term for low blood pressure (less than 90/60)
http://www.medicinenet.com/low_blood_pressure/article.htm
Unlike high blood pressure, low blood pressure is defined primarily by signs and symptoms of low blood flow not by a specific blood pressure number. Some individuals may have a blood pressure of 90/50 with no symptoms of low blood pressure and therefore do not have low blood pressure. However, others who normally have high blood pressure may develop symptoms of low blood pressure if their blood pressure drops to 100/60.
From this, is sounds like you're not bad. You're close to the "normal" range, and if you're normally low, you probably only need to worry if you start fainting often.

I'm here to help.
Mine is always superlow too.
When I had my back surgery they kept retaking my BP over and over.
Then they would scratch their heads, get another nurse and make her look at the chart too.
I have a cardiologist who says I'm fine.

same here.
They're usually not to concerned about it- i've never actually heard of anyone being medicated for it. If i'm feeling lighteheaded or dizzier than usual, i'll have something with salt in it- some pretzels or chips....

Also, Orange Juice or if you are in a real bind pop in a starburst. That should help a bit.
