When does your toddler drink their milk?
Can you give me their timeline during the day as it relates to eating & bedtime?
I cannot give DD her milk WITH her meal. She LOVES milk and hates to eat, so she'd fill up on milk and wouldn't eat. Disaster waiting to happen if I did that.
So, as it is now, this is what we do: - breakfast done by 9am - milk at around 10:30 - lunch around 12 or 1 - milk around 3:30 - dinner around 6 - milk around 7pm - bed by 8pm
The evening milk is what I'm having a problem with, timing wise. I want to stop giving it to her so late because I know as she starts potty training in the future we can't do that...but for DD, getting a good amount of milk a day is important since she's not a great eater, so I don't want to just cut out that nighttime milk.

I give it with meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nothing before bed. She drinks water the rest of the time.

Yeah, my DD drinks water throughout the day too--- she drinks a ton of liquids during the day.
But I just can't do the milk WITH her meals...I know what will happen. Ugh, what to do...

Re: When does your toddler drink their milk?
Around that age I think DD was drinking one cup when she woke up and then one cup after dinner/before bed.

Re: When does your toddler drink their milk?
Can you move dinner up to 5 and then give her the milk immediately following dinner?

Good suggestion! I may have to do that.
The only problem with this is that we can no longer do a "family dinner" if we move her dinner to 5pm...she's still with MIL at that time, she gets picked up around 5:30. But if that's what has to happen, I'll do it!

Re: When does your toddler drink their milk?
It is his breakfast at around 8am and then an hour later he gets his "real" breakfast. Throughout the day he gets water with a splash of juice in it.

DS drinks 8-16 ozs of milk at night. He will not drink it during the day only at night. During the day he drinks water, sugar free ice tea, juice, etc.

Lucas has milk in the am but usually with breakfast - he has a separate cup of milk but will also have milk with cereal on some days.
He has yogurt and sometimes he'll have milk with lunch but other than that no more milk during the day.

Re: When does your toddler drink their milk?
DD is 29 months old. I give her milk when she wakes in the morning around 6:30. Then after her nap around 3:30 and then before bed around 8:00.

Re: When does your toddler drink their milk?
I'm not sure what you give her for breakfast, but Marron usually has cereal (either Cheerios or Special K with Strawberries). I either put the milk into the cereal in one of those bowls with the straw attached and she will eat the cereal and drink the milk, or she likes to nibble on the cereal dry and have a cup of milk with it. If you did this, then you could give her the 2nd cup of milk at 10:30 and then you could cut out the 7pm milk.

Re: When does your toddler drink their milk?
He wakes and gets his first sippy right away.
Then he gets breakfast about an hour later.
Lunch at 12.
Nap 1-3
Next sippy of milk at 3 when he wakes.
Dinner around 5.
Last sippy of milk before bed at 7:30

I totally understand about the family dinner. While I was on maternity leave, my dinner time with Madelyn was 4:30 (because she's down for bed at 6). Now that I'm working- I usually don't make dinnertime, but DH eats a little with her.
Maybe, give her her *real* dinner at 5 with MIL,then let her drink her milk at the table with you and DH for your dinner. Give her a few morsels of dinner so it "looks" like dinner, but don't push her to eat. This way, you're still instilling the importance of eating as a family.

You get the big bucks?? NO FAIR!
Well, C keeps them in due to necessity. If she doesn't, the hair hangs in her face, and she's got to stop playing and brush it out of her face (which she does oh so dramatically, of course )...so she's learned to deal with them. She generally takes it out maybe once a day, but as I mentioned, she hands it to me while saying "TAKE IT!!!" and I just put it back in her hair
Or you could try taping it in there
