When is it safe to get a prenatal massage?
DH will be work V-day so I thought I would treat myself to one. I'll be 17 weeks then, is it safe? TIA
Also, what about a facial?

most places won't do anything on a pregnant woman before 12 weeks so I'd say you are ok at 17 weeks. This is a prenatal massage, right? There's a maternity spa called Edamame in midtown NYC.
Most places won't do a facial on pregnant women because of all the harsh chemicals used. But I'd ask anyway and see if they have natural products.

im pretty sure its ok after the 1st tri-mester, but i think i might wait till the 3rd just to be on the safe side
i got a facial when i was like 5 or 6 weeks.

i just got a facial at 14 weeks and it was fine. for a massage, in your second tri or later so 17 weeks is good.

I got a massage at week 14 and everything was fine. I was told after the first trimester you are ok.

I got a massage and facial when I was about 8 weeks preggo. DH and I are going in a couple weeks for a couples one for his birthday I will be 18 weeks

I read somewhere they recommend getting a massage after the first tri because it could make you nauseous.

My doctor did not give me any restrictions. I had one in my first trimester at the end and I told the therapist. She had no problem, working on me. It depends on if its a spa or private therapist. Spas normally dont work on you in first trimester for liability reasons. I did not hear anything about facials. I could use one my self. Enjoy

Facials I don't know about but I have a friend that is a licensed massus (sp?) and she said once you're past the 1st trimester you are safe but just to make sure whoever it is you go to is trained in prenatal massage and that they do it on your side not your stomach
